The Incredible Machine ...is your cell phone?

incrmac3.jpgIf we were going to remember this summer as anything, it would have to be as "The Summer of Mobile Games." All of the classics seem to be coming back in dialable form: Leisure Suit Larry, Miner 2049'er, and now The Incredible Machine. Seriously -- can it get any better? Someone finally realized old DOS gaming = new mobile gaming, and I couldn't be happier.

In case you were living under a rock in the early 90's, The Incredible Machine was every PC gamer's favorite puzzler. I still have friends that swear by this thing. The concept is simple, and the gameplay is excruciatingly fun: you're given a grouping of random goodies and a simple task to perform like putting a ball in a box. You'll need to make an insanely complex device out of all of the items included to accomplish the task. Sound cool yet? Well you can pick it up today. The Incredible Machine hit cell phones across America earlier this week.

Now if we could only get Monkey Island in our pockets, Dan would wreck his cell phone with leakage.

Dammit!!! I've got an HTC S620/T-mobile Dash with Windows Mobile 6 (the very latest), and all the games I can find for it are either Bejeweled clones or Texas Hold'em. What systems/carriers/platforms are all these awesome mobile games coming to?

I so don't get the point of people when they say "old DOS gaming = new mobile gaming"... My favorite DOS game was TIE Fighter, and there's no way that it would be playable with crappy cellphone controls!

Even if I go with simpler titles, the Bomberman game I purchased is so utterly repetitive that it's not even fun. That's not to mention the utterly crappy music...

I love me some Incredible Machine, I'm actually tempted to cough up the ridiculous amounts of money my cell company charges for games and get this.

Of course I could just open keep playing it on my computer too.
