Kind of an interesting mix this week. On the one hand we've got the brutally difficult but famously fantastic Super R-Type for the SNES. The shooter beat my ass down as a kid. If shooters are your type of thing, you know the VC is already a gold mine for you anyways. This one is definitely worth the 800 points if you feel like being punched in the nads repeatedly by a video game. Or maybe its super easy and I just suck at shooters -- who can say?

Our other release this week is something completely obscure - Spelunker for the NES. From what I can tell (and what little I've read this morning) it's another game with a painful level of difficulty, only this one's not very good. Still -- the screenshots have me intrigued. Looks like a platformer of the Mario variety, but since nobody's ever heard of it -- again, who can say?

There you go kiddies! For those of you keeping score, I haven't bought anything on the VC since Harvest Moon came out. I finally got around to playing it. I officially don't get it, but I'm gonna give it another shot. Anybody out there play anything on the VC lately?

Spelunker is known as the hardest game in video game history, because basically EVERYTHING kills you in the game. There's videos on YouTube of how easy it is to do something wrong in it.
