I love old school adventure games. Lucasarts especially and to a lesser extent Sierra blazed a trail through the late 80s and early 90s with point and click greatness that people will probably refer to as "awesome" for all time.

Of course, looking back and going back are two totally different things. And while a few of those old school games still really hold up on their own, most are held up by our own nostalgia and expectations. We may look at today's games and see we still have a long way to go, but looking back we see how far we've come.

Now granted this video below is a little tongue in cheek, but even if taken out of context (it's not, the Kings Quest games were like this) it's still worth a laugh.
