theBBPS Game Club #1: Beyond Good & Evil

Thought I should toss up a quick post for those of you that haven't been listening to the bitcast lately (seriously -- shame on you.)

During last weeks show we announced a new monthly feature: theBBPS Game Club. Each month we're going to spend some time playing a specific game and get together for a special bitcast to talk about it. We'd love to see our readers/listeners get in on the action, so we're announcing the titles well in advance of the show in the hopes that you can join us with your questions and comments. If you'd really like to get involved you can use our new Byte Back feature to make sure your voice gets heard.

To celebrate the announcement of the sequel that many of us thought would never see the light of day, the inaugural edition of the Game Club will feature 2003's critically-adored commercial disaster Beyond Good & Evil. BG&E was released on PS2, GameCube, Xbox and PC. If you're looking to pick up a copy, you should have no problem finding one used for less than $10. Just a couple of notes before you spend your money: it's not backwards compatible on the 360, and the PC version is available on Steam for only $9.99.

Stay tuned -- the inaugural Game Club bitcast should hit the airwaves in 4 more weeks. 50+ cool points for the first person to tell me what inspired the Club's logo.

I can participate in that discussion, as I just played through it last week. smilies/smiley.gif

I'm going to guess the Oprah Book Club.

Kotaku is doing this exact same thing with the exact same game. WTF?

I guess it's fresh in everyone's mind since the sequal teaser was revealed. I actually threw it into my Wii the week before the teaser surfaced. I just finished the Slaughterhouse. I'm psychic. And until my wife gets a new job, no new games for me.

If that's true Tralfaz, Jimmy not only cannot give out +cool points for making a Oprah reference, he loses 100 cool points for doing so.

It's alright. I don't need the cool points. It's reward enough to see the toll Jimmy's gh3ydom has wrought him. smilies/tongue.gif

[And by the way, working in a bookstore for a couple of years has instilled in me a familiarity for enough crap with which I'd just as soon not be.]

This is slightly off topic, but did you guys nuke the forums? I can't find a link to them anywhere, and my old ones aren't working...

Back on topic, yay BG&E sequel. Makes me happy the series is finally getting some well-deserved attention. smilies/smiley.gif

Forums are nuked. If they had been more active we'd keep them.

It wasn't an easy decision to shut them down trust me. But the sadly weren't being used often (is at all). If down the line it makes sense to bring them back we certainly will.

You can always use the Facebook group forums.

Fuck it -- you ask me, forums take away from the comments on the posts. Have something to say? Say it out front loud and proud!

That's fine and all that, Jim, but what if we want to talk about something NOT covered by a news item here? We're pretty much stuck. smilies/tongue.gif And here I was about to write on the forums about the Friends Code sharing system I first talked about several months back...

Submit it as a tip and we'll run it on the front page!

As far as the forums go when I shut it down there hadn't been a post in over 3 weeks, and it took another week before anyone realized it. I felt having forums that seemed empty and never used really wasn't functional for readers.
