They're still making new Pokemon episodes?!?!

pikachu1.jpgSo I'm sitting flipping through the channels on a hunt for a little Sesame Street action, and you'll never believe what I found; brand new Pokemon episodes! Who knew?

Considering that the Poke-craze (lasting nearly as long as Vietnam) came to an end quite some time ago, I can't help but wonder who this new show is being marketed to. After all, it's the 20-somethings who grew up with Pokemon who mad the most recent titles such a hit in Japan (kind of like how we're all going to dump several billion dollars into what will inevitably be a shit Transformers film thanks to Michael Bay just because we grew up with them). I don't necessarily see those same kids-turned-adults getting hooked on a new Pokemon show.

I just had to know more, so I turned to the universal fount of knowledge known as Wikipedia;

"Pokémon Chronicles, known in Japan as Shūkan Pokémon Hōsōkyoku ("Weekly Pokémon Broadcast"), is a spin-off series of the Pokémon anime, revolving around characters other than Ash. It is an English dub of a number of special episodes that had previously aired only in Japan."

So there you have it. The Western world has gone to the Pokemon fountain again, and scooped out another jug of Squirtle-infested water. I'm sure many of our readers are in the "grew-up-on-pokemon" demo. Have you seen the show? As an adult, would you watch the show?

I may watch the show out of curiosity, but I doubt I'd return. I've always loved Pokemon and am eagerly awaiting the new game. However the series got stale long ago and the movies have become downright painful to watch (I bought Destiny Dioxes and had to watch it over several days as it was so boring).

There are only 18 episodes of Chronicles, so they're probably not counting on it to be a big thing in the states. None of them were really any good, either, other than the Team Rocket origin one and the Gary/Aerodactyl one.

I'm much more interested in the 500th episodes of the main series that's airing soon in Japan, myself..

It still is running brand new episodes beyond chronicles, new stories with Ash and everything. The show is still suprisingly popular, it's just not getting the exposure it did years ago, ya know like communism.

Isn' Chronicles out allready? I know I've seen these on Cartoon Network or something. Watched some episode about Misty going to her old Gym and finding out they were being challenged as the Gym leaders or something. Great concept through. Get away from Ash.

I thought th enew series was Diamon and Pearl like the DS games. CN is showing the premiere of some movie soon called that to be followed by a new series.

Diamond and Pearl is a continuation of Ash's story, after he completes the Battle Frontier and all.
