Well, I'm not really a fan of dragonforce, but they do possess amazing talent from a technical standpoint. Unfortunately they lack good songwriting skills, so all their songs sound like a couple guys playing their instruments as fast as possible just to prove they can.

That's all I get out of it as well. Yeah, you're a great technical player but that's about the size of it. There's more to playing music than just playing an instrument well.

People are obsessed with it because it falls under the category of "incredibly stupidly hard to play" in Guitar Hero. The actual song itself is immaterial.
