The Top 8 Features I'd Like To See In Guitar Hero III

Quite a while ago I made up a wish list of songs for the upcoming 80's Edition of Guitar Hero. This time I'm making list of new features I'd love to see in the next iteration of one of my all-time favorite games.

Make The Tremelo Bar Mean Something

Sure, it can boost your star power quicker on certain notes, but the rest of the time it doesn't do squat except make the notes sound different. I think they should make it required on some of the long notes. This is a simple thing that could up the difficulty without adding a flurry of notes, and add to the "realism".

Fret Slides

I find myself doing this anyway, just to try and keep up, but again I think it's something that should be occasionally required. Take a song like Freebird or almost any song where the guitarist is using a slide technique. You should have to slide your finger from one button to the next when the song calls for it, like running your fingers down the strings on a real guitar. Just another little thing that could make it feel even more real.

Karaoke Revolution Integrated

This is something that I have a hard time believing won't actually happen. It's a great way to get even more people involved during a party atmosphere. There's dead space on the screen anyway that could easily be taken up by the horizontal bar of Karaoke Revolution. You could then have two guitarists and someone singing, or have a mic stand so that one or both of the guitar players could add their vocals.

Jamming

Sometimes I wish I could just fiddle around in a certain song, especially in the solos. Think of it as a "sandbox mode", but for each song.

Custom Tracks

The possibility of adding a custom track to any song you wish is pretty much never going to happen but I'd love to see the ability to "program" an existing song any way you want and share them with friends. Helloooo four note chords!

Online Battles / Co-op

This is a no-brainer. Oh, and make it 4 player capable.

Another Set Of Buttons

I'm not talking about adding 5 more notes that are different I'm talking about a clone of the existing buttons, but closer to the body of the guitar where you'd play the high notes during a solo. Another little way to make me look and feel just that much cooler.

Performance Recording

Some of us have that damn near useless Xbox Live Vision camera sitting on top of our TVs just waiting to be used for something other than showing strangers my package on Uno....I mean showing strangers my dog. Why not have a mode where it would record what you're playing and a little window that actually shows you playing that can be uploaded to Live or (in a dream world) YouTube. I'm tired of seeing all these crappy "point my camcorder at the TV" videos and want some higher quality, dammit!

I would love to see 7 frets in future versions, especially the Wii version. Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Purple, Gray. That'll get your hand moving, and give me an excuse to buy another guitar controller.

I'd like to see the buttons be less clunky, or even flat and touch sensitive if it can be done inexpensively enough.

But the sleekest thing would be if they replaced the wedge with a single mini guitar string instead, and armed you with some picks.

Good ideas all! Particularly online battles/co-op. Offering additional downloadable content for the game is great, but to be able to play with/against others via XBox Live would be even better.

So essentially you want 3 things that are already available, and 2 things that are in Rock Band.

Yep. Sweet wishlist.

I agree with the idea of a "free jam" mode. Let the player pick a style for his instrument then just let him twang away.
