Score one point for ROM downloading pirates - it looks like they'll now be able to play NES games with a Wiimote just like everybody else. It turns out that Windows recognizes the Wiimote as a bluetooth enabled game controller, so you can use it on your PC to your hearts content.

I'm not too sure how many people have PC's that can recognize a bluetooth device, but if you do it'd be worth giving it a shot. If you try, let us know how it goes.

My ThinkPad supports Bluetooth natively, so I've tried it this weekend. Once you push the "scan" button of the Wiimote and activate the "look for devices" option in Windows XP, the system detects the controller and installs some basic drivers. The device is then added to the "Controllers" area of the Control Panel under the name "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01" [Nintendo Revolution Controller 01]. The properties of the device are almost non-existant, and there's no way to play games using the Wiimote yet. Someone needs to write extra drivers, and I'm sure that it will come along shortly.

While it's not playable, the button presses are being detected properly: the Bluetooth light on my laptop blinks every time I hit a button on the Wiimote, which indicates that some data is being received by the computer.
