You know the drill by now... I scour the internet, looking for the coolest video game inspired ones out there. Well well, I found another one.

This one is a bit on the retro side, from the classic System Shock 2... and it's HUGE! 1600X1045. Big enough to make all (most) monitors submit to it's retro goodness.

Been meaning to play this game. Does anyone know if it's on any of the download services? I already know it's not on Steam. After finishing Bioshock I'd love to see what this one's like.

My favorite goddess, Shodan. Women of power, is there anything more hot?

Kevin, find a CD of this game, it's worth the time to hunt down a copy. You'll also want to hunt down a lot of the mods made for this game a couple of which include re-mixed sound effects and improved enemy models/textures.

To my knowledge there isn't a digital distribution version of SS2, and since EA doesn't like putting their games on other services like Steam/Gametap, I don't think you'll see this one online anytime soon.

You'll probably never find this on Steam or any other download service because it won't run on 2000/XP if your CPU is hyper-threaded (P4 with HT) or multi-core (Pentium D, Core2Duo/Core2Quad, Athlon64 X2).

You will have to either disable hyperthreading in the BIOS, disable all cores but one in the BIOS, or use a utility to force the game to start up with an affinity for one processor. Or you could build a legacy machine and load it with a 9x OS since these problems do not present themselves. (Windows 9x can't see more than one CPU or hyper-threading.)

I had to have this game shipped from Australia to New Jersey at great expense but it was worth every penny. One of the best games I've ever played.

Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere online, it's long out of print, and the developer (Looking Glass) is belly up, so you'll probably have to get it through an abandonware site.

Perhaps you could run it in a Win9x virtual machine?
