What The Hell's Going On In There?!?! New Dashboard Update Hits Today

I turned on my 360 this morning and BOOM, it wants to update, but what did it do? I'm all about our consoles having internet connections and updating themselves to make them better but I'm getting a little tired of these mystery updates that happen occasionally when I turn on my 360 or pop in a game that I haven't played in a while. While I realize that I can usually read about what's in the update on the net, I shouldn't have to. Why can't there be a message that pops up after the update to inform you about changes that you might like to take a look at?

I had to navigate over to Major Nelson's page to figure it out:

The next time you sign into Xbox Live, you’ll be prompted for a dashboard update. The update contains:

* Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution

* Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers

* Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy

This update is being rolled out across the world, so you may not get it exactly at this moment, so be patient.

Please Microsoft, start letting us know what you're doing to our $400 machines instead of leaving us in out in the cold.
