What'cha Been <s>Eating?</s> Playing?

It's been a couple weeks since I last checked in and I actually have a bunch of stuff that I've been playing. Imagine that.

First off, I finished up Fable II. After much questing and general tomfoolery I had reached a point where I wouldn't be able to turn back so I spent a bunch of time wrapping things up that had been sitting in my quest log for a while. Eventually I decided to just start the finale to see what happens. Well...the ending...hmmm...how do I put this...it sucked. Remember how Halo 2 just sort of...ended. This is sort of like that, just a little bit less brisk. That being what it is I still loved this game. It's superior to the first one in almost every way. I probably spent about 15-20 hours with it and I still feel like I only experienced about half of what the game has to offer.

Of course Left 4 Dead has been getting a fair amount of play from me, both on PC and 360. I couldn't resist letting my XBL friends get together without me. This game reminds me of why I love video games in the first place: it's just plain fun. Finally someone has gotten a zombie game right and have found a gameplay mechanic that is extremely satisfying. At the same time Valve have pretty much redefined what a shooter can be.

Lastly I've started Gears of War 2 in co-op and it's more of the same, which is good enough for me. The "drama" and what not have been ratcheted up to beyond soap opera levels which comes off as cheesy and highly amusing though I'm not sure it's intended that way. Regardless the simple tactical combat really appeals to me as does the phenomenal Horde mode of multiplayer. That's some good times right there.

So that's enough for today, What'cha Been Playing?

Kevin's been playing everything I haven't. smilies/sad.gif

Well that's not quite true, I started Fable 2. Mixed bag so far.

Finished Dead Space and Fallout finally though, so that's good. Making my way through the queue.

I just started Fallout 3 this morning, I'm not even an adult yet so you can tell how far into the game I am.

The ending to Fable II was the worst game ending I've seen in a while- it definitely tops Halo 2. I was pretty excited to take a second character through the game and take the "evil" path, but I was so put off by the STUPID ending, and furthermore the announcement of some paid DLC on top of it, that I doubt I'll do anything more with the game short of selling it.

Left4Dead has been a fantastic experience- it's a definitive multiplayer experience. "Bill!" As usual, Valve puts out the same stellar and unique ("Bill!") content that we've come to expect. "Bill! Bill! Bill!"

I really enjoyed Gears 2; there's hardly anything negative I can think to say about it.

The majority of my time this week was spent in WoW. I've been having a crazy fun time playing my Paladin, and I'm trying to get as much playtime in on him as I can before he gets nerfed to the ground again.

Hopefully sometime after the holiday season I'll pick up Dead Space and Fallout 3. I hadn't really had Fallout 3 on my radar at all, but after hearing everyone's reactions to it, it's definitely got my attention.

Been playing a little TF2, some TFC, finished up Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness 1... played a bit of Rise of Legends and today, in attempting to show my girlfriend how cool it is, revisted Castlevania: Symphony of the night and dropped about half the day into it. smilies/tongue.gif

Amazingly, not much this week. It was a nice change of pace. smilies/smiley.gif

Played about an hour of Samba De Amigo and WarioLand: Shake It. Samba was balls on the Wii. WarioLand was good, but my damaged TV made it unplayable. I can't believe nobody has been raving about the art style in it -- it's cel-shaded, but it almost feels like Don Bluth decided to work in 2D platforming. It's fucking GORGEOUS.

Bought Counter-Strike, and realized how terrible I was at it pretty instantly. I think I need some more time to give it a fair shake. I'll give it a shot on my next free evening.

And I've been fooling around on PlaySEGA a bit. Scribble is awesome, and there's some other good stuff on there too.

I have really expanded my list as of late and it's really starting to overwhelm me

Gears of War horde mode has made a strong comeback of games I want to play, on account of my brother finally getting a headset and getting online. Anyone want in?

The usual standbys of Rock Band and Warcraft obviously (lvl 78!)

Fallout 3, iFluid via steam...

Tecmo Bowl and Tetris on the DS

And I've had the hankering to go though my XBLA list (REZ, Ikaruga, Ticket to Ride, Uno, Geometry Wars 2, etc etc etc)
