What'cha Been Playing?

If you haven't booted up your PSP in a while than you might not know that we've been able to access the Playstation Store directly from the handheld! Of course, this is a bad thing for an impulse-shopper like myself but it is convenient when you're sitting in bed looking for something different to play. Such was the case a few nights ago when I decided to check out Super Stardust Portable for the agreeable price of $9.99. Of course I was a little cautious before I bought wondering how a twin stick shooter would work without twin sticks but after hearing What They Play's John Davison rave about it on 1Up Yours for the past couple of weeks I decided to give it a go anyway.

Much to my surprise using the face buttons as your fire works very well since it sort of cheats and knows what you intend to shoot at instead of needing to be directly lined up with it. You can also tap the fire button repeatedly to spread out your fire in the desired direction. I'd still prefer a second stick but having a nice Geometry Wars clone to take with me for my much-ignored PSP is pretty nice.

That's about the size of it for me, What'cha Been Playing?

As always, I'll be playing Rock Band 2. But I'm gonna try and fit in some much needed time so that I can finally finish Eternal Sonata. And attempt to finish Expert on Left 4 Dead.

And my best friends bother is in town so we'll probably end up playing alot of old games, some NBA JAM TE on Sega Genesis, and maybe some Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey on good old Nintendo 64.

The country pack on Rock band has gripped our household, we've played it every night we've been in. I also checked out Beautiful Katamari after finding it for a bargain £10 brand new! Fallout is still ongoing also, I might get around to the story at some point.

Haven't really started Fallout yet, but I will have 20 hours in the next 24 to play games so I'm hoping to get at least 10 of that to Fallout.

I'd love to try Super Stardust Portable. The original is a BLAST. Anyone out there have any experience with both that could share their thoughts?

Haven't played much of anything this week. I've been off sick with bronchitis, and not much up to gaming. The only thing I had time to squeeze in was Defense Grid: The Awakening. Review up now. smilies/smiley.gif

About to embark on a journey through my top games of the year, just to make sure they're as good as I remember them.

Star Fox Command has been my main game this week. Trying to get all of the endings! It's surprising how replaying it so many times doesn't get boring.

Rolando on iPhone.
Fallout 3, Fable 2, Dead Space .... Tons more. Getting ready for X3F's Game of the Year extravaganza. Also, speaking of John Davison, he's on the upcoming episode of our podcast talking his GOTY. Check it out on Monday.
