What'cha Been Playing? Downloads Ahoy!

While I have been making may way slowly through Crysis (I think it's the game that I'm "working on" right now) most of the week was spent playing downloaded games, which we discussed last week on the BitCast.

While earlier in the week I had some complaints with myself about not being able to wrap my head around Braid's play mechanics I think that's starting to get cleared up. I was able to figure all but 2 puzzle pieces up through World 4 and the thing that's helping me out the most is being patient while I play around in the world. There's probably a lot in there to analyze and critique and I'm really glad to have a game like that around.

Like a lot of the internet mongers out there I've been a big fan of Home Star Runner for the last five years or so. When word broke of the Tell Tale game coming out I was super pumped but I've come to the startling realization that I think I'm not a big adventure game fan. I don't think it has anything to do with the game itself because they really captured the perfect feel for what you'd want a H*R game to feel like, I think it's just me. Since I've already pre-ordered and prepaid the whole sh-bang I'm going to try and make myself play through it more to see if the opinion changes.

Lastly I was playing some of the Fable II Pub Games and it's exactly what you might think: a retail release's mini game.

So that about wraps it up for me, What'cha Been Playing?

Honestly? Justice League Heroes. I just wanted a break from all the hype surrounding newness.

I'm really digging it, which surprised me. I picked it up with a "let's see how bad this turned out" attitude. It's like a stripped down Ultimate Alliance with slowdown issues (probably a backwards compatibility thing) -- but it's still fun as all hell.

I finished playing through Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction a second time. It's a fantastic platformer and I can't recommend it enough to any PS3 owner. I've also been going back through Lego Indiana Jones in Free Play mode to collect all the bricks and letters. Lastly, we got some PvP action in WoW last night, which was fun and goofy as usual.

Games for next week are looking like Assassin's Creed ($25 used), a bit of Lego Indy, possibly some Fable 2 Pub Games (I'll probably pre-order the game so I can get the minigames for free), and finally a heavy dose of Too Human.

*Looks at Jim*

Dude, I just finished Ultimate Alliance a few days ago... that was a great game.

If the mailman comes through tonight, I will be playing Fire Pro Wrestling Returns via Goozex, Red Faction (yes still) and if I don't get FPWR in the mail today, I'll probably grab something like Red Star or Viewtiful Joe out of the drawer and start them.

@MC -- couldn't agree more. UA was fantastic. I just picked up another copy the other day in the hopes of firing it up again soon. I'm thinking of downloading the new characters. smilies/smiley.gif
