What'cha Been Playing?: Happy Jimdependence Day Edition!

Pardon my passive aggressive nature with the title and the picture, but it's not like America gave us a present for our birthday on Monday -- so today you JIMXORRD!!

But enough about me and my megalomania -- on to what we've been playing. This week I've taken a bit of a breather from MGS4 -- it's a combination of trying to prolong the experience mixed with some fucker on the player one podcast ruining Act 4 for me. Either way I'm taking a bit of a break. So what did I play in it's stead?

Dabbled a little in Unreal Tournament III -- definitely a fun experience. If I could get more of my friends to pick it up it probably would have gone from a rent to a buy (especially since you can get it used for $14.99 now). Also finally got around to trying out Boom Blox. I get the hype, but at the same time... I don't know. It's a solid experience but it's lacking the game-of-the-year qualities that a lot of bloggers were hyping.

And of course, Super Stardust HD.

That's pretty much it for me this week. What have YOU been playing?

I've been considering grabbing UT3 for 360, maybe it'll finally take the FPS crown from Halo 3 which seems to keep coming back into my rotation.

One necessity it'll need is split-screen, and split-screen on Xbox Live, and Guests would be nice too. Does it at least have some of those things?

I believe so, but to be honest I spent so little time with it that I didn't explore all of the available options. Plus (as you can probably tell by my $14.99 comment) i was playing the PS3 version.

Let me steer you in a better direction sir. The ONLY online FPS you need to be playing is TF2. Everything else is utter horseshit.

Well Smash brothers has been high on the list. Finished up GTA story last weekend, just the races, pidgeons and stunt jumps to finish, not that i'll do the last two. Now there's no missions, it feels quite empty. Am about to dive in and finish up stuntman before my bargain copy of bioshock turns up in the post, which by all accounts should be an enjoyable romp.

I Heard that Boom Blox really shines in multiplayer from some guys i know, but it's not cheap enough to warrant a purchase yet. Really bad release in the UK, slap in the middle of okami, Smash & Mario Kart, which were most of the games i wanted on my wii this year.
