Whatc'ha Been Playing: "Whatever happened to consistency?" Edition

I  know, I know.  First we did What'cha Been Playing every week.  Then it was every few weeks.  Then it died off completely.  Then it was back ...for one post.  If nothing else, theBBPS is constantly consistent in its inconsistency.  That's why I'm making this New Year's July 11th resolution; to try and make sure we're running What'cha every week.

So what have I been playing?  I'm a little late to the party, but I've finally started Ghostbusters.  It's a little.... meh?  Maybe it was the year of anticipation.  Maybe it's that I'm only an hour in.  Whatever it is, I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed so far.

On the flip side, I'm playing a game that's taken me completely by surprise by its sheer level of awesomosity -- Battlefield 1943.  Regular readers know that I'm a little wishy-washy on first-person shooters, but I'd heard enough good stuff from those in the beta that I just had to check it out.  $15 amazingly well-spent.  I've sunk a good 5 or 6 hours into Battlefield in the past 48, and can't wait to get back to it tonight.  Sure it's only three classes and three maps, but that's all you really need.  The gameplay is tight and well-balanced, and I'm completely hooked.  You can find me playing the PS3 version under my PSN tag jimmycanuck.

That's pretty much it for me and games that have been dominating my casual time this week.  What have you been playing?  (we ask this in the Twitterverse as well, so don't be afraid to reply to both!)
