What'cha Playing? Something Different Edition

It's Opposing Fronts Bitches!

I'm not gonna say it by name, it was only played a little tiny bit and it's not worth beating a dead horse. Let's all just assume I'm playing it.

As you might have been able to tell I started and completed God Of War: Chains Of Olympus earlier this week, which was awesome. If I didn't communicate it well enough in the review, this game kicks all sorts of ass and is completely worth checking out. Dan has my copy right now or I might have started a new game on a different setting.

A strange thing has been happening recently: I've been replacing the aforementioned "it" with Company Of Heroes: Opposing Fronts (it's been a very colon-rific week in my house). If you listen to GFW Radio enough you've heard Shawn Elliott talk about Opposing Fronts at some point. His constant nagging for people to play the game finally got me to give it a shot a few weeks ago. RTS games are always intimidating but this one seems more simple at the start. I've been playing skirmish matches against an easy computer opponent to get used to the feel of the game. Once I get to the point where I'm annihilating the computer I'll step up the difficulty but I'd really like to play against some other RTS noobs so if you're out there and have been thinking about getting into CoH let me know.

So I asks ya, What'cha Been Playing?

Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy, House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return (YES! SUFFER, LIKE G DID... XERXES *HEART* SHOOTER PORTS!), a bit of WoW, Halo 3 Rocket Race on Fridays, and an attempt at playing some Brunout Paradise last night which ended in frustration due to the recently-broken voice chat (which seems to only be broken in Burnout Paradise; Halo 3 was fine).

Well as you might have guessed, I played a little Smash Bros this week. smilies/wink.gif

God of War: Chains of Olympus, Trials of Topaq and Harvest Moon on the VC round out the week thus far.

I think I'm going to be playing some Live Arcade trial catch-up all weekend. There are a ton of titles that have come out in the past few months I want to check out.

A friend of mine offloaded some strategy games onto me, so I am trying out Battles in Italy, the Operation Watchtower MegaCampaign for Steel Panthers WAW and The Operational Art of War III. And when I was getting my patches, I saw that Matrix games had Titans of Steel available for free download(like Steel Panthers sans the MegaCampaigns), so I got a copy of that on my hard drive now too.

Seeing Xav post here as a "civilian" is like witnessing a supermarket checkout person doing their own personal shopping.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is an obvious one (first game I buy on launch day for a while), and I'm still enjoying Mega Man Battle Network 6 very much. Oh, and a bit of Age of Mythology too.

@bdwilcox: Thank you? LOL. Still love the place so I still frequent it in between my mandatory beating over at Joystiq.

@Xav: It wasn't a dig, just an observation. It always freaks me out to see someone you normally associate with doing a certain role or service now using that role or service, but as a consumer rather than a supplier.

Xav's still a friend of the site, and since he likes cool shit, it's only natural he'd still read TheBBPS smilies/smiley.gif
