What'cha Playing Wednesday: In the Army Now Edition

inthearmynow.jpgI looked outside and saw something I wasn't prepared for. The sun.

I've been stuck inside most of the week playing the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer beta so much that I feel I'd be extremely prepared for a terrorist invasion.

In fact, if we are attacked by terrorist ground forces I think I know where they would be.

  1. In the crashed helicopter in the middle of the street.
  2. In that barn next to the smallest wheat field evar.
  3. In that cargo container near the parking lot constantly calling in air strikes... the bastards.

Of course, these three spots might not be as easy to find as they are in the GAME... but hey, I'm not a soldier - I just play as one on the TV.

Much like regular BBPS-Head Guruthos (who has been hitting the beta just as hard), I've reached the recently capped level of 16 and I have no intention of stopping.

So yeah, my copies of Metroid Prime 3, BioShock and Warhawk are all collecting dust as COD4:MW invades my life (pun sort of intended).

Well, what are you guys/gals playing?

Sonic 2! I've also tried to get back into Burnout Revenge, but it usually ends up with me wanting to throw my controller at something.

Just finished Bioshock for the second time with the good ending. I might play through it on hard. I am also Lunar Knights for the DS, Picross, Pokemon Diamond. O yeah and GH2 also.

I've been playing "Keep NFL Network On The Air" all week. It's for the InRealLife Console.

@Kevin: I've heard mixed reviews on that console.

I'm down with the COD4 beta. I'm way, way, way more interested in the single-player, but I'm digging the multiplayer more than expected. Definite game of the year candidate as a whole.

Counting the days until Skate comes out. Otherwise, I'm playing nothing. Can't seem to summon the interest to play Prime 3 at all.

Proving Ground demo came out this morning. I think Skate ruined it for me. smilies/sad.gif

@Xerxes - It's a mixed bag. Sometimes I really like it, sometimes I really hate it. It's sort of like a box of chocolates.

Drawn to Life, mainly, with a bit of Loco Roco and Dungeon Maker on the side.

Xav, I take it you're getting annoyed at campers in the Beta too?
...

Yeah the people who get on the roof of any of the buildings on Overgrown and snipe from there are hella annoying. That's when I save my air strikes!

While I was never a camper in my FPS experience, it is a viable game playing style... and it allows for some sweet humiliating kills on the people who do so.

Pokemon diamond sucking up my daytime breaks, trying to get into Resi 4 on my wii in the evening. It's so hard to get used to having to move your camera with the control stick, keeps on catching me out. A bounding box would have been so much more useful. Does keep the tension high though. Either way i picked it up for a bargain £20, and it's still very much enjoyable!

@Kev - My InRealLife shipped defective and the fuckers refused to fix it. Now my warranties long expired and it's way beyond repair. Sigh..

I've been playing way too much this week, so I'll keep it to the highlight: The Bigs.

How in the fuck did everybody not pick this up? This is the most fun I've had in ages. It's a rental, but I'm pretty sure I'll be tracking down a used copy asap.

@Jim: Wii version of The Bigs, or another system?

360 sir. To be honest, I forgot there was a Wii version! Maybe I should give that a rent too (assuming of course it's all about the swing.)

Bah Baseball.

MC - While I agree that real baseball can go suck a dick, video game baseball is occasionally wicked fun. The Bigs happens to be one of those occasions.

@Jim: It is! When it first came out, everytime I went into our Gamestop for about a week, the employees were playing each other at it. XD

Kinda pissed off some of the non-regulars, but the rest of us thought it was hilarious.
