What'cha Playing Wednesday: Part-Time Model Edition

BILLYRAYProps to Dan and Kevin for covering this spot for the last two weeks. I spent much of last week in various parts of California covering a bunch of pre-E3 events, and while I can't talk about the vast majority of the games I played/viewed, I can talk your fucking ear off about Hannah Montana and High School Musical.

Seriously. Watch me.

Without snark or hesitation, I can honestly say that I was partially impressed by the Hannah Montana games. Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour for the Wii is a dancing game with various hand motions (including air guitar) and it seemed to work well enough, but I was more intrigued by Hannah Montana: Music Jam for the DS. Using the stylus, you can play three types of guitars and a drum set, which allows you to pluck individual strings and drop some crazy fills. Then you can layer the tracks to create a complete song. Though you'd need a pretty keen sense of timing and composition to do anything really great with it, you could theoretically put together a decent version of any track you can think of. Might be worth the dirty looks you'll get pre-ordering it.

The High School Musical games are less... innovative. High School Musical: Sing It! for the Wii and PlayStation 2 is a pretty straightforward karaoke game (comprised entirely of HSM & Disney Channel tracks), while High School Musical: Makin' the Cut! is a shockingly exact rip of Elite Beat Agents, complete with that punch sound when you tap the stylus. And how about those exclamation points? Microsoft Word isn't fond of oddly-placed exclamation points!

So, why'd I just write about a pair of games that most of you won't even bother looking at? Because I can. Also, because those are among the last games I played that I can actually talk about.

Oh, to touch on Kevin's post from last week, Flight of the Conchords was absolutely phenomenal. I watched it twice, then rewatched their HBO special from 2005. If I had asthma, I definitely would have had an attack when they did the BINARY SOLO.

Drop comments, brothers and sisters. We want to know: What'cha playing?

I've been on a serious Warcraft kick this week (I know I know... big suprise) and I've been playing Pac-Man CE a ton.

And for the 1st time in a while I actually popped Marvel: Ultimate Alliance into the 360... forgot how much I was enjoying that game

Been playing a few things off and on.

1) Castlevania: SotN for XBLA (for review and the original PS1 version for reference).
2) Guitar Hero II for X360.
3) Resident Evil 4 for PC ... let's not talk about it!
4) The Movies for PC, kind of a fun Sims type of game by Lionhead.
5) Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for NDS, yeah... I've got the Castlevania bug this week!

It's actually pretty fun, I installed it on a whim... I had a copy Activision sent me months ago and I'm really enjoying it.

I actually went out and picked up the Stunts & Effects expansion pack...
