What'cha Playing Wednesday: It That Shall Not be Named (Beta) Edition

ShhI'm currently in San Diego (far from my Midwest abode) covering Sony's Gamers Day event. Essentially, this boils down to two things: hobnobbing with your favorite game journalist celebrities (?) and playing/watching a whole bunch of unreleased goods. But I can't talk about it. Sorry! I'm bound to absolute secrecy.

So I've started a topic to talk about games, yet I can't say anything. Hmm.

For the first time in a very, very long time, I may not have any review games waiting for me when I get home tomorrow. This opens up possibilities. Do I... (finally) start playing Final Fantasy XII? Should I run out and pick up Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars for some hot console action? Will I ever bother to progress past the first world in Super Paper Mario? The suspense is killing me.

As is the case for this recently initiated weekly column, it's now up to you guys to drop some comments and share what you're playing currently (or have been lately). Our lovely editors, writers, and contributors will also be leaving notes throughout the day to inform you all on what's happening in their gaming worlds.

I have a feeling that one or two of you will be playing some little-known console beta with a freshly announced September 25th release date. It's such an unknown property that I won't even bother mentioning its name. Better to let it fade into obscurity.

I've been playing a decent amount of Puzzle Quest on my DS, which I'm really enjoying.

Last night I finally bought Catan and I can see myself playing a lot.

I finally beat Psychobilly Freakout on expert in Guitar Hero II, and while there's no achievement for beating it... there fucking should be.

Gratz on dinging Psychobilly!

I JUST got home from picking up Touch The Dead for the DS.

As normal, I've dabbled in WoW and the Forza 2 demo (look for a two-perspective article on that coming soon).

I also picked up a game that I intend to try out this week that might SHOCK some of you who know me. I'll leave it at that.

i've been having a hard time playing much of anything lately. between traveling and having a life, i sometimes kick gaming to the curb for a while. when a large chunk of time shows up, i play F1, and small windows of time have been filled with the forza 2 demo. for any of you that did a double take at that, know that i do really want the game to be good.

I continue to kick ass in Guitar Hero II, beating the Hard Tour and moving on to Expert. I am also seriously considering trying out Catan, which looks like a game I could get into.

Final Fantasy XII sucks. Don't bother. Square has jumped the shark.

Right now I'm juggling a few goodies. I've got Valkyrie Profile 2 on one end, God Hand on the other, I'm awaiting Taito Legends 2 to be released, with a dash of Half Life 2 xbox version in spurts.

Hey, I liked FFXII kinda. I think our generation is just getting old, that's all.

I'm playing Puzzle Quest and Twilight Princess. I got like, halfway through GOWII and got bored. I still mess around with my Harvest Moon DS farm regularly, and I'm also revisiting the Shadow Hearts trilogy.
