Which games really pissed you off?

The recent hype surrounding the upcoming wii-welease of Dead Rising got me thinking. Sure the original game had it's potential, but the whole thing was a poorly executed mess. Why in the hell would they want to port this monstrosity? Why would Capcom want to bring Dead Rising back from the dead? (see what I did there?)

And then I really did some thinking. I can't remember a game that got my panties in a twist more than Dead Rising did. Not because it was bad, but because I wanted it to be so good. And at it's core it was. Shower heads through zombie skulls? Lawnmowers munching up undead parts? A fucking sword? It had everything. I even loved the photography. But then when it came to the mission structure -- the glue that should have held all of this quality gameplay together, Capcom stumbled head first into a weed whacker. Save points were damned near inaccessible (it shouldn't take me half an hour to get back to one when I want to shut the damned game off), and worse yet, if you missed a timed story event it was gone. After that happened (and it always happened) the game was just about hacking zombies until your thumbs bled for no real reason. I couldn't imagine a situation that pissed me off more -- gameplay I loved shattered by paint-chip snacking developers who didn't realize that games are supposed to be fun.

They say the new Wii version may fix a lot of this, and based on that alone I'm eager to check it out. Still, if the screens are any indication this version is going to be a port that completely misses the point. Swarms of zombies are scary. Gaggles of zombies are not.

So what about you -- what game got you so mad you wanted to chuck the disc through the developers undead skull?

This is a no brainer for me - Ninja Gaiden I and II - but it's a love/hate relationship.

The worst I've done was Killer Instinct. I put my foot through a wall trying to beat B. Orchid once back while I was in HS.

I put a poster over it which was there for 2 years until we moved out. My parents only then learned of it and their philosophy was "we've already sold the house".

This is an older title, but Driver 2 for the PS1. I probably played this one mission towards the end of the game 50 times, and I usually failed because of something out of my control (as is the case with most of the "Driver" games.

I remember getting so angry at the game that I ripped it out of the console, put it back in the case, got in my car and drove right to Gamestop. I traded it in that second to be rid of it. I don't think I even picked up a new game that day, I just needed to get rid of that game before I destroyed it.

Dead Rising was a great plan that was horribly executed. The aiming controls were AWFUL. I'm not sorry I sold it.

Although I absolutely adore the game and the series, Burnout usually has me getting really frustrated, and in particular, Burnout 3. I remember racing a time trial course in Paris with the open-wheeled racer for WEEKS before I finally got a gold medal. To make things worse, no matter how well I did in a race against the other cars, they'd always be right behind me. Bugger off, rubber-band AI!

Pokemon Battle Rev.

60 bucks for 3d fighting, poor online, and nothing to add to the series.

Super Smash Bros Brawl.

-Took out Bonus mode. (I used to like fighting and see who could do the coolest shit, as opposed to who can die the most in 3 minutes.)
-Online is the worst thing ever.

Okami for not selling well.

Twilight Princess for fooling me into loving a port of a gamecube game.

Fable for making it really hard to actually GIT SOME.

and Metroid Prime for not being in third person.

Xerxes3rd, that was just Burnout's way of making you strive for perfection. I know the stage you're talking about. I remember how hard it was but I also remember how good it felt when you finally did achieve the gold medal for it.

But I don't think the game was unfair about it, it just made you memorize every single turn of the course in order to beat it.
