Lets take a blast from the past, back to the good 'ol N64 days. Lets put aside the known greats, such as: Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, etc. One of the most overlooked and underrated games of its time is Midway's arcade style boxing game, Ready 2 Rumble.

In Ready 2 Rumble we became familiar with a fun and challenging cartoony boxing match. We also got to know the characters, boy did I love me some Afro Thunder. We were soon introduced to Round 2. Boy did this game keep me occupied for hours at a time, while I unlocked hidden characters such as Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, Shaq, etc. Now it seems Ready 2 Rumble is taking a page out of Sylvester Stalone's book and is making a return to the ring. Find out the details after the break!

Obviously a sudden interest in reviving a game that did not get the attention it deserved had to be sparked by something spectacular. My guess is that it would have to be somewhat related to an interactive audience, a unique control setup, and a caution label reading; BEFORE PLAYING, READ YOUR OPERATIONS MANUAL FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY, yup you guessed it, the Wii. TheTanooki, as usual, for all your Nintendo needs, has the scoop:

10tacle Studios has announced their intention of reviving the Ready 2 Rumble boxing franchise for the current game generation. A Ready 2 Rumble game would be the first in at least 6 years, though 10tacle has yet to announce when the game would be released and for what console they’re looking to release it on. However, given the nature of the Wii’s controls and the desire for a devoted boxing game on the system as an alternative to WiiSports Boxing, it seems that Ready 2 Rumble on the Wii would be a no-brainer.

As I do agree with Mr. Tanooki, a release for the Wii console does seem inevitable, you can never underestimate the power of corporations. Theres no telling what will happen with this game if it is in fact morphed into a next gen title!
