Wii shopping channel to get "gifting" feature

Starting today (and a few weeks ago in Japan) you can now buy and send a Virtual Console game to anyone you've exchanged friend codes with. So if you're out of ideas for what to buy someone for the holidays, why not pick them up a copy of Sin and Punishment on the Wii Virtual Console. It's light years better than just buying them a Wii points card.

It's a nifty little feature to be sure, though I have to admit every time I read about Nintendo doing something online I'm secretly hoping they'll trash the friend code system and go with something else. I know, I know... there's no chance. But a man has to have a dream.
