Wii Virtual Console to support... C64?!

C64

Well now this is a surprise.

CVG and half of the rest of the gaming press are reporting a new announcement from Nintendo, which is that the Commodore 64 is the latest virtual "console" to be added to their burgeoning classic game download service. I won't belabour the C64's complete lack of console-ness because it may as well have been a console; the total uses of a Commodore 64 in it's heyday break down thusly:

98% games.

1% GEOS.

1% doing this to the demo model in K-Mart:

10 PRINT "I'VE GOT A HUGE DONG"

20 GOTO 10

RUN

I hope they get that feature in there as well.

Anyways, the first two games up for grabs shall be International Karate and Uridium (published by Hewson!) and I kick ass at both of them. 500 points each, due out "later this year". Nintendo VC Overlords, might I humbly suggest: Skate or Die, The Last Ninja, and Caveman Olympics. And Jumpman. And Archon.

(I had a mouse for my C64. I asked for it for my 11th birthday. How dorky is that. I could play one game with it: Arkanoid.)

Hopefully, they'll also bring in classic Apple II games like Captain Goodnight and Rescue Raiders (which I believe to be the first real time strategy game ever made).

The original Test Drive.

I would say all the Infocom games, but they would really suck to play on the Wii.

It's good to tell the truth at a K-Mart demo kiosk.
