Wii games use data from Wii forcast channel? [update: NO]

extended.jpg[update: Turns out this is false. Glad I tagged it as rumor.] It seems that there's a chance that the Wii's weather channel might be used to change in-game conditions. A person posting over on Nintendo's official Wii forums claims that if it's snowing in your area, it'll be snowing in your Madden game.

I'm tagging this as a rumor for now, since I haven't seen it myself. But it's cool enough to warrent looking into.

I remember Metropolis Street Racer used to use the internal time clock of the Dreamcast to regulate what time it would be in game. It was cool at first but got old fast. I always raced at night after work so therefore the game was always dark. The novelty wore off quickly. The only time I saw those tracks in daylight was on the weekend.

Here's the post in question (from user WIIREVOLUTION1):

Look at the Weather Channel! Now switch your regoin to a snowy region or rainy region.

Now go play Madden & look at the weather...it WILL BE THE SAME AS WHAT THE WEATHER CHANNEL IS!!!

Can anyone confirm this?
