officialxbox360bday.jpgOn November 22nd, 2005 the Xbox 360 we've grown to know and love was unleashed on the world, exactly one year ago today. Today not only marks the birthday of the console but also the debut of Microsoft's new movie and TV download service. I'll be checking it over when I get home tonight and (if the price it right) downloading some content. If I buy anything I'll be sure to post some impressions.

So we're 1 year in on the 360's lifespan, what have your favorite games for the system been over the past year?

It's doesn't quite seem like it was a year ago that I first brought my 360 home and had my $400 investment rewarded by Hexic, and not much else. The "launch window" was a pretty dry spell for 360 gamers but now there are somewhere around 100 titles on the system, plus Arcade games. Rather thatn try and pick out just one title as my favorite, I'd actually say that Arcade is my collective favorite. I've spent at least as much time with those games as I have with retail products and love the variety of titles, the pricing, and the fact I can get new games from the comfort of my own home.
I'd say that Arcade is one of the biggest strengths of the platform especially now that Microsoft seems to be looking into opening it up to content made by home users with the XNA toolset.
So anyway here's to one year of great gaming and entertainment and to the many more to come.

What can I say? MS, you did a really, really good job. The games, Live, the delivered promises, and the suprises, you changed my outlook on you. Thanks. Oh, and you started the next generation of gaming.

Happy Birthday Xbox 360!

I have to mirror Katana's statement and say that the Arcade is probably my favorite feature of the 360. It's a beautiful box with a ton of great features made very easy to operate. As far as "normal" 360 games I've had some great times with Oblivion, Saints Row and Gears Of War...oh and Fight Night as well.

call of duty 2, oblivion and rainbow six are by far my favourites. i'm very impressed with the way ms hasn't had a major mishap, and now that i'm on live, i'm impressed with how well it works. i could care less about the arcade, but being able to download demos is awesome. i don't care about downloading tv showes and movies either. it falls into my "stop making it do everything" rant. if only ms had a really good racing sim for me to play...

Just give them another couple months to get Forza 2 out the door Greshkov, I'm not much of a fan of racing games but that looks sweet even to me.

My favorite game for 360 is Rainbow Six Vegas. Viva Las Vegas baby. Ubisoft has done a great job of programming for 360. I like Gears but at the same time, there's something about it that I don't like, but I can't put my finger on it. Splinter Cell is my other favorite. I would make fun of that Burnout comment, but I'm guilty of enjoying EA's other "racer" Need For Speed Carbon, but don't blame me cause I got it for PS3 and there really isn't much to choose from.
