The fact that he said that he doesn't know many people who care about Halo 3's multiplayer makes me think he's the one with his head up his ass. Halo's multiplayer is hands down the best FPS experience you can get in video gaming.

On consoles maybe, but My Little Pony '97 for the PC has better multiplayer.

I'm no fan of multiplayer myself.... unless of course everyone playing is a friend of mine, then I tend to have fun. But I'll never boot up the game with the intention of playing multiplayer.

I agree that the single player should be able to stand on it's own as a cohesive thing, and not be helped along by other game modes.

Who buys Halo for the campaign? It's always been weak in my opinion. This campaign was the most enjoyable of the Halo stories, I thought, but it was not immersing at all. If one does not care about the multiplayer, then they will likely be disappointed.

In addition, Microsoft marketed this game as an epic story, not as an online fragfest. So for him to expect as much is not out of the question.

I remember myself almost being lured into believing that the story would be epic and wonderfully fantastic. But then I realized that Halo 2 was boring for me, so why would I think Halo 3 would be different? In the end, I bought it for the multiplayer, and because all my friends were playing it!

I haven't played multi-player since Quake3Arena and even then I didn't enjoy it unless it was against a friend or group of friends (usually in the same room so the smack talk was much more effective).

I only play single player now, though, so I can really appreciate what a "good" single player experience is. I think the old adage about all things to all people holds true here. A single player game is a good single player game, and a multi-payer game is a good multi-player game. Combine the two and you usually get a sub-par single and multi-player experience.

One thing that makes Campaign mode much better is being able to play it with friends over Live. I've found that I tend to prefer my 360 because of the online social aspect of it, and Halo 3 fits right in.

I thought Halo 1's single player was great because there wasn't a huge focus on multiplayer.

Yeah, you definitely have to play the mutliplayer with friends, so you avoid the annoying 12 year-olds.

i fucking love this guy.

halo 3 is everything i thought it would be and nothing more. or less. it's halo, which is good, but not the 3rd coming of christ. i buy it for the single player/co-op. i hate the multiplayer. brisk is my man, but i've had better multiplayer experiences with socom than i ever have with halo. i find its multiplayer to be like any other first person shooter, and the fact that i can even pick what type of game i want to play drives me up a fucking wall. that being said, who'd down for some multiplayer halo tonight?
