Crack Down CoverNo, that's not a spelling error because I'm not talking about Crackdown, I'm talking about Crack Down. Two totally different games. Crackdown was recently released for the Xbox 360 and has become wildly popular. Crack Down was released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis and quickly forgotten a week or two later. Now we're here to show you why it fell on hard times, it's a hard game to sit through.

Now sit back, relax, grab a cold beverage and let the soothing pipes from Yours Truly tell you all about it.

This was an arcade game before a console game and in my opinion one of the coolest arcade games ever. At the arcade you had one huge screen split down the middle for you and your friend to share and then a smaller top screen showing you the map. I can see why the port to the console failed. Duplicating the arcade experience was impossible at the time.

This game always had lines of players waiting for you to run out of quarters.

I disagree with the most of the criticism for this game, at the time it had some very compelling features, the ability to use mellee attacks or 2 different fire-arms, the reviewer didn't note the difference between them either (the rockets being able to pass through and kill multiple enemy's).

There's also the rare feature that enemy's can accidentally kill one another if they run into stray gunfire, something that has annoyed me so much in other games where they are immune to their own kind.

Hugging the wall is another great move allowing you to sneak up and around the opposition.

I believe to get over the final gap that the reviewer kept falling down you must shoot or kick the purple blocks down to cross. a game I DO remember.

I suggest that the reviewer has become too jaded from the predictability of modern games.

Cheers,

Blaise.
