If you missed Sam & Max Season One (retitled for Xbox Live Arcade as Sam & Max Save the World) as a download, on DVD-ROM, or on the Wii, now's your chance to get with the program. All six episodes of the point-and-click adventure series reboot are available in bulk for $19.99 (1600 MS points). Is the dog and rabbit duo worth sacrificing several premium themes' worth of points, or are you better off digging out an old copy of Sam & Max Hit the Road?
Of course you should dig out an old copy of Sam & Max Hit the Road! But you also shouldn't forget about Steve Purcell's re-working of this timeless series.
Hearing a giant mecha-Lincoln ranting about today's youth and their "blinged-out horseless carriages" is alone worth the price of admission. Perhaps you'd like to hear about a candiru swimming up the Pope's weiner? That's here too. Jokes are absolutely everywhere, and you'll rarely make it a few minutes without giggling like a maniac. This is a game of a bygone-age; where effort is apparent and laughs are earned, not just expected.
I'm going to level with you here. If you haven't played this yet, you're getting some of the best entertainment around for less than $1 an hour. There's so much to explore that one playthrough simply won't do it. Telltale's site even has a "Did you try?" page up for each episode that tells you what to make sure and do in case you missed out.
If you still aren't biting, go to telltalegames.com and download the fourth episode for free.
If you have any damn sense, just download this game. Keep in mind, if you played it before, don't bother picking it up again. If you haven't, this is a great way to play. If you prefer your point-and-click adventures in the original, Telltale has lowered the price of the downloadable PC version of Sam & Max Season One to the same price.
