Outspoken developer David Jaffe (God of War) posted an AIM conversation with Sony dev Adam Orth (Calling All Cars, Twisted Metal Black and some Medal of Honor games for EALA) where Orth expressed his discomfort with the latest Halo 3 trailer.
Adam: that ad is insulting “belive”? come on
Jaffe: Am I missing something? What’s insulting about it?
Adam: well, for 1, i think it’s disrespectcful to actual veterans of real wars and 2, they really expect people to become that invested in the halo story? i guess i just really dislike halo and that ad aint helping
While I am a fan of the Halo lore, which admittedly isn’t too strong, I do think there is some truth that the latest ad could be perceived as offensive to some considering the current climate in the world. But, then Adam Orth went for the jugular!
ADAM: fuck halo
ADAM: actaully, i stand by what i said, you can print my name, just leave out “fuck halo”
JAFFE: shit really? Ok.
ADAM: ok, print it fuck it
God speed Adam; you were so brave and bold… it’s a shame a man of your cajones is going to be crucified by fans of teh Halos.

I don’t think it’s disrespectful at all. I am a fan of the storyline in the Halo series. I think the ad fit perfect with the lore of the game.

I dig Halo, but don’t think it’s as great as people would like us to believe. That being said it’s tough to ignore the imapact the game is having (and how far reaching the marketing is).
It’s like gaming is breaking out of the ghetto!

what does that have anything to do with the current war or any other war for that matter? id think if we had a master chief in any of our wars everyone would be sucking his balls right now. fuck this site, ive had it…im taking you off my favorites. XP

i loooove all videogames but whats with all these sony developers lashing out!!! shit, i wunna buy a ps3 eventually…maybe if theyd stop bein all emo crying about how halos gunna skull fuck them and actually make some good competition, they wouldnt be in this situation. i think people dont like halo because a) theyre not good at it or b) They think its gone too casual market and theyre too hardcore for anything but mario and bioshock.(which was way over rated) fuck i need to vent…wheres my animal crossing.

Halo is the game that got me back into gaming, but it is not the be-all end-all of video games for me. I love it like a dog loves another dog’s dirty ass, but I never got sucked into all the lore.
Could I not sleep the night before Halo 2 came out? Sure…but that don’t mean nothing. Does it?
