Sealed copy of LOOM hits eBay, collectors lose their minds |

I’m a HUGE sucker for classic LucasArts games. I’ve still got Secret of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and a few others in my collection (btw is there a Vista version of the ScummVM, or a way to run these games?). Couple that with a serious character flaw when it comes to buying video game collectibles and I’ve got a serious problem when I start browsing eBay.
But this copy of LOOM proves to me that I have some limits. Of course if your limit is over $700 bucks for a PC game, maybe I don’t have any room to talk.
But I’m not passing judgement on whoever ends up buying this. I’ll prove it by admitting the following; I plan to one day own a Nintendo World Championship cart. Don’t ask me how, and I realize it will cost me dearly… but I’m gonna make it happen.
Till then, if you’re interested in LucasArts gaming at it’s most classic, take a peek.
(Oh, in case you’re wondering… that pic above was a little in-joke in the 1st Monkey Island. A pirate at the bar was wearing that button.)

Apparently ScummVM runs fine on Vista, though it must be run as Administrator.

How can you forget Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle, not to mention Sam and Max?

It must take immense willpower to sell this thing on Ebay rather than tearing it open and playing it.

Oh I LOVE those games too bdwilcox, I just sadly don’t have them in my collection yet…. yet.

It wasn’t long ago I saw an unopened “The Neverhood” on ebay for $200 and I almost bought it. I came to my senses at the last minute and closed the browser. I wonder where people find these gems?

Okay, I am probably one of the foremost defenders of LOOM (and I always tell people “You have to listen to the Audio Drama, it will make more sense”, as I often find that helps to convert people to my opinion easier), but this is too much even for me. o_O
Also, the Pirate wearing that button is not a simple pirate, but rather Cobb, the Henchman of Bishop Mandible from LOOM.
I always assumed that the SCUMM Bar is where he ended up after that one…occurrence.

Is it just me, or does Cobb look a hell of a lot like Clint Howard?
