OK, so I’ve got some potentially good news and I’ve got some potentially bad news for you, what do you want to know first?
The good news? OK!
Valve’s Doug Lombardi was interviewed in OXM UK recently and mentioned the desire to bring some of their older titles like the original Half-Life and Counter-Strike to the 360 as downloads now that Portal is on its way.
“We’ll certainly consider [bringing old games like Counter-Strike to XBLA],” Lombardi told OXM UK. “If you look at what we’ve done on Steam, we try to make all our games available and we’re always reviewing the prices to keep them current. We’d love to do that, but this is our first step at doing that beyond the PC.”
Ready for the bad news? When he was asked about the PC Team Fortress 2 updates coming to the 360 he mentioned that they’re still trying to work out pricing. Now, I don’t think you should read that as “We’re going to charge you for the stuff PC users get free” but we all know how Microsoft is by now.

Meh, I got all these games free when i bought my radeon years ago ( Half Life 2 dealio ).
As far as the TF2 stuff costing money, meh. Maybe if people still played this game on XBL i might care. And believe me, I wish they still played it

I wish they would release TF2 as a stand alone or release it with Left 4 Dead on the same disk. Also plus push up or back Left 4 Dead. Same week as gears what am to do?

I really havent played the game recently on XBL but is it really deserted? That would suck. Course if it is I’m part of the problem…

[...] today Kevin broke out the bad news box — it looks like Microsoft and Valve are still arguing over the price of downloadable content. [...]

TF2 is and almost always will be a PC game to me. I know it’s had its share of fans on XBL and that’s awesome but the once or twice I tried the game out it just didn’t feel right to me. That’s not a knock on the game at all, it’s just my personal preference.
As for the DLC costing issue, I think we’ll end up seeing one of those timed windows where the early adopters pay and those who don’t want to can wait for a month or two before it’s free.

Also, Swifty, I’d probably pass up HL but would probably definitely pick up a XBLA version of CS. The Xbox version of CS was pretty good and if they can translate that into a XBLA version I’m down.

I picked up Orange box on my xbox because I just dont game on my pc like i used to, granted, it mostly has to do with the fact that my computer is about 4 years old now. I love me some CS though, I might have to install that again sometime soon

Ugh, I won’t pay a dime for CS… however, I do need to fire up TF2 someday, as I do have it on PC.
