by the hammer of Christina "Faith" Winterburn!

Microsoft Game Studios and Rare have announced a new Viva Pinata game for release on Sept, 30, 2009 and it’s gonna be jam packed with lots more pinatas!

The game will be introducing two new realms in the Pinata world: Desert and Arctic lands, which will have brand new pinata types for you to capture and bring to your garden.

The storyline will also include Professor Pester from the cartoon show as he and his gang of Ruffians will have wiped out Piñata Central’s computer records. You will have to rebuild the computer database and thwart Professor Pester’s evil plot by sending piñatas at full candiosity to parties all around the world.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some more pinata incest, porn and cannibalism.

2K Games Announces Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Colonization for the PC

by the hammer of Christina "Faith" Winterburn!

2K Games, announced today that Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Colonization, the next game in the long running series of Civilization IV games, is currently in development at 2K’s Firaxis Games development studio. Conceived from the ground up to take advantage of the Civilization IV engine, Colonization will be available fall 2008 exclusively for the PC.

“We’ve received many requests from fans over the years to bring back Colonization and now seemed to be the perfect time to do that,” said Sid Meier, director of creative development at Firaxis Games. “The Civilization IV engine provided a fantastic foundation for a new Colonization experience and allowed us to create something great for both new players and long time fans of the game.”

In Colonization, players lead one of four European nations on a quest to conquer and rule the New World. Players will be challenged to guide their people from the oppressive motherland, discover the New World, and negotiate, trade and fight with both the natives and other nations as they acquire power and fight for freedom and independence.

As a complete reimagining of the 1994 classic, Colonization is a total conversion of Civilization IV that combines Civilization’s “just one more turn” gameplay with all-new graphics and features that add more depth to the franchise. Other new features in the game will include a brand-new interface, improved diplomacy options and included modding tools.

I personally am looking forward to this game, cause there’s nothing like colonizing a new world, while you’re killing off all the natives with advanced weapons and foreign diseases. Yay!

God of War or God of Rock & Roll?

by the hammer of Christina "Faith" Winterburn!

Sony released an exclusive free Guitar Hero III track this week on the Playstation Network that I know all those God of War fans are going to love. The End Begins from God of War II has been converted into playable track for GH III, so God of War fans can rock out this savage Kratos theme.

All Hail the God of War and his back up band! I bet Kratos would get some sweet groupies.

Mirror’s Edge Trailer: Faith … What a lovely name!

by the hammer of Christina "Faith" Winterburn!

At SCEE Playstation Day in London, EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) released a new trailer for their upcoming game, Mirror’s Edge. EA is apparently claiming the trailer is showing real game play footage and if that’s true, well colour me impressed.

Mirror’s Edge follows the story of a runner, who is lucky enough to be graced with awesome name of Faith and works as a delivery girl who delivers important information in an alternative reality future that has become ultra paranoid about using electronic communications. She becomes a target of mysterious government forces when the information she carries becomes too important for her to deliver to its intended party.

Of course, Faith isn’t some damsel in distress as she’s able to kick some butt and take some names with some killer Matrix style moves. DICE also opted to not have Faith use guns in the game, but her enemies do, so gamers will have to choose between fight or flight tactics when faced with the oncoming projectiles.

The trailer sports a moment where Faith is balancing on a pipe as she makes her way across it and I’m thinking the developers might use moments like this to use the SIXAXIS controls for the PS3 version, much like Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune did. God, I hope not.

No release date has been announced for the game yet, but the game will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows when it does hit the market.

Korn Releases New Song for Haze: Inspired By Game or Paycheck?

by the hammer of Christina "Faith" Winterburn!

Finally another wicked videogame song to add to my iPod list! Following in the footsteps of bands like Breaking Benjamin, Korn has released a new single, Haze, which was inspired by Ubisoft’s upcoming game release, Haze. The song is now available to download via online music sites like iTunes and can also be found on Korn’s new untitled album in Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

To celebrate the release of their single, Ubisoft has released this cool video featuring live footage of Korn performing the song mixed with footage from the game, Haze. Check it out!
