I’ve never played a Mega Man game! You may commence the throwing of stones, but that won’t stop me from posting the freshly announced bosses and weapons for the upcoming uuber-retro Mega Man 9. I am genuinely excited about it and had better get started on playing the previous entries. The Mega Man X games can wait for a little bit while I catch up. Anyways, make the jump to get acquainted with Mega Man’s latest foes and weaponry. Cheers!

Wii-kly Virtual Console Update: 08/11/08

by the hammer of Tim Horn!

More Virtual Console goodness comes to the Wii this week. Sadly, the only game on this week’s VC list that I’ve heard of is Star Parodier (TurboGrafx 16 CD-ROM, 900 Wii Points) and I’ve yet to ever play this spoof of Star Soldier. The other VC item for the day is a pool game called, Break In (TurboGrafx 16, 700 Wii Points). As for WiiWare, Strong Bad Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner (1,000 Wii Points) makes an appearance for Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People. You can check out Jim’s review of it just below.

That’s about all there is to say for this week’s short-n’-sweet update. For more details, make the jump.

Ninja Town Ninja Profiles and Ninja Screen Shots…NINJA!

by the hammer of Tim Horn!

The first time I saw the Ninja Town trailer some time last year, I was excited over its quirky style without really knowing what the hell kind of game it was. By now, if you’ve followed the game at all, you know it’s a tower defense-style game with Ninjas in the place of towers, but not just any kind of ninjas. These ninjas look super cute until they slice or burn you to death. Anyways, some more screenshots and ninja profiles have made their way to my inbox. You can see both after the jump.

As an added ‘bonus’, I’ve included some gameplay footage from a while back and the trailer just to get you up to speed. Still, I was hoping for more information on the extremely pleased looking but hard to find Ninja Dropping. Maybe next time.

Top 5 Worst Dressed Video Game Characters

by the hammer of Tim Horn!

1Up have outed the top five worst dressed characters in all of video games. At least, it’s their opinion. Jill Valentine…meh…I don’t think she’s that bad, do you? It’s not the best outfit, but I’m certain I’ve seen worse. As for the rest of the crowd, it’s hard to top a man who wants to be an elf in a tight green full-body leotard (who would want to?), an ugly boxer wearing a tiara (King Hippo), a Little Red Riding Hood wannabe who’s doing it all wrong (Bridget) and, well, Tidus. I never liked what Tidus wore…ever. I can’t even pass it off as decent looking sports gear. Anyways, I’m sure you all have seen your fair share of bad dressers. Who’s on your list? Follow the link to see what 1Up had to say.

Wii-kly Virtual Console Update: 08/04/08

by the hammer of Tim Horn!

This week sees the release of yet another WiiWare title and two classic Virtual Console games. First, on WiiWare, Wild West Guns (1,000 Wii Points) brings some Western-themed shooting gallery action to the Wii. The game can be played with one or two players and offers a couple of different modes to keepy you interested.

As for the Virtual Console, Sonic The Hedgehog (Sega Master System, 500 Wii Points) makes an appearance. This Sonic is a re-creation of the original that popped up onthe Sega Genesis with “new stages, bosses, some different zones and a level map.” You also have to find some of the Chaos Emeralds in stages other than the Special Stages. Sounds interesting, but I’ll wait to see what you people think of it before I grab it.

The final title for this week is SPLATTERHOUSE 2 (Sega Genesis, 800 Wii Points). The Terror Mask is back and Rick once again has to fight his way though a haunted mansion with his mask’s powers, his fists, feet and a chainsaw to save his girlfriend, Jennifer. The first one was a blast, but I’ve never played the second one. I would love to know what you think about it in the comments. As usual for the Wii-kly Updates, you can read the complete details for these releases after the jump.

Final Fantasy IV DS Media Blowout

by the hammer of Tim Horn!

GameTrailers posted this nice preview of Final Fantasy IV DS sometime yesterday. I have to admit I’ve been looking forward to this one for a long time now. As you may know, Final Fantasy IV DS is a full remake of the original and I have to agree with this preview in saying that I don’t even consider this a port. It really does look, sound and feel like a brand new game. After the jump, you can view a side-by-side comparison of Final Fantasy IV DS and the one from the GameBoy Advance. The differences are staggering. Anyways, I’m off to play it now. Remember to make the jump for a glimpse of the aforementioned comparison, the opening cinematic and a few other videos. Enjoy!

E3 2008 Trailer: Fallout 3 Footage Bonanza

by the hammer of Tim Horn!

Fallout 3 has got to be one of the most hotly anticipated titles ever for me. This trailer furthers my belief that the series is in good hands with Bethesda. The trailer starts in typical Fallout fashion with some sort of ad (this one features Mr. Handy), zooming out to show a devasted landscape. After that, it goes on to show a bloody mess of a montage of gameplay footage with a cameo by Dogmeat. I just wish we could see some more of the RPG aspect of it.

The battle scenes, though gorgeous, leave me wondering how, exactly, it will function. I seem to recall hearing that the battle system would be flexible between a sort of turn based-type system which allows you to target body parts (like the originals) and the run-and-gun style gameplay that dominates this trailer. Anyways, I’ll have to go do my homework on this while you watch the trailer. Hope you enjoy it!

UPDATE: There’s some gameplay footage after the jump that shows exactly how the combat system works, as well as some other footage that should satisfy your curiosity for now. Those classic sound effects have got me so excited. Can’t wait!
