I am 8-bit art show decends on LA August 14th!

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Hitting up the 1st two editions of the I am 8-bit art shows where some of the true highlights of those years at E3. Hell the 2nd year I even bought one of the art pieces! So it’s both exciting and saddening to see the new show coming soon and me knowing I’m not going to make it out there. Boo for me, yay for anyone anywhere near the gallery. Seriously, go!

Actually, if you’re going and want to cover it for the site… hit me up! We’ll try and work something out (wink wink).

See? Indiana Jones Hates Nintendo Too!

by the hammer of Kevin Alexander!

As Jimmy pointed out in the comments this piece is called NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY SEGA WITH HARRISON FORD.” and it’s from artist Brandon Bird. Here’s his description of the picture:

I made this for the 2006 I am 8-Bit show. We didn’t have Nintendo, so I had to go with what I knew.

Thanks to my wife (and Joe!) for the tip!

Earthbound Cross Stitch

As usual, Etsy rides to the rescue to fill my videogame arts and craft void! This seller actually has quite a few cool cross stitch items for sale, but this Earthbound one if easily my favorite!

Pitfall! needlepoint laptop case

Ohhh, retro goodness. Etsy always seems to serve up the best old school game merchandise, and this laptop case carries the torch well. It’s not cheap but the attention to detail makes it worth the price (in my eyes).

Custom made Okami statue

I can honestly say there isn’t much I wouldn’t do if it meant I could own this thing. It’s absolutely stunning and sadly not an official product, so I can go buy it.

It was created as an entry in a deviantart/Capcom contest but somehow didn’t win! To be fair all the winners were damn good but for me personally this is the best of the bunch.

Are you an Unreal Tournament goddess?

Well, have I found the perfect wood plaque for you! Admittedly it caters to a specific market…. but if that market is you than this would fit perfectly into your fragging room.

Space Invaders knit hat

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Oh Etsy, how I love your crafts so.

I’ll admit the middle of May probably isn’t the right time to be in the market for a knit hat, but when it’s this damn cool there’s exceptions that need to be made. Between the cool retro vibe to the little pom-poms, this hat hits all the right notes. Plus for a handmade item, the price is very reasonable. Check it out here!
