As announced in the middle of last friggin’ night (it was in Japan) here’s the announcement trailer for what we now know as Halo 3 Recon:

I have to be totally honest, this got me kind of excited. Not because I’m a Halo lore nerd but because I love playing the Halo campaigns.

On the other hand is this the first sign of a possible “Guitar-Heroing” of the Halo franchise? Supposedly there’s about 5 or 6 other Halo games in the works so we’ll have to sit tight and see.

Yellow/Gold variant of the ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper). These are the elite boys, for when the plain old Spartans just won’t do. He’s also exclusive to our favorite toy and collectible site… Entertainment Earth.

He may be just six inches, but you know damn well he’s all man. Order now bitches.

Today Guitar Hero III fanatics and the Halo obsessed alike can download the Halo theme song (MJOLNIR Mix) to play on their little plastic guitar shaped controllers. How much will this incredible dose of awesomeness cost you? Absolutely nothing. Consider it a Thanksgiving gift from Activision, Neversoft and Bungie. Thanksgiving is now the new Christmas apparently.

I woke up this morning, completely giddy at the prospect of rocking out Halo style and raced down the stairs to retrieve my goodies. Let’s just say you won’t be disappointed. There are some absolutely phenomenal hammer-on and pull-off sections that are beyond amazing to play. Go download your Thanksgiving freebie and rock out Master Chief style. Then eat a shit load of food and pass out until tomorrow when you can wake up and do it all over again. Happy Thanksgiving!
