Gears of War 2 trailer — better than Mad World?

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

To this day, if someone asks me what my favorite game trailer is I can answer within a split second. Gears of War’s Mad World commercial was effective on so many levels. It actually evoked emotion. When was the last time a commercial evoked emotion? So this begs the question — why was I so surprised when Epic did it again?

Bonus points to the first reader who can tell me what the audio is. Gears of War 2 is going to be sweet.

Kevin argues that Blizzard still trumps Epic in terms of cinematics. After this and the original Mad World trailer, I be to differ. What say you?

Prepare for space war! — Galaga Legions announced

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

For the most part, those of us the chatted away during the Microsoft press conference agreed it was a total bust. Sure the new Gears of War trailer was eerily fantastic and Primetime Live seems to have some potential, but all in all there wasn’t a whole lot coming out of the Microsoft presser that wowed us.

…and then there was Galaga Legions.

Developed by the same team behind last years redefining Pac-Man Championship Edition, Legions appears to be taking the same path to reimagined greatness. It seems to have the same vibe as Space Invaders Extreme, which if you’ve read our Halfies you’d know isn’t half bad. Expect Galaga Legions to hit Xbox Live Arcade next month.

I’m not going to go one and on about this one at the moment, I’m trying to nail down some other RB2 details. But here’s the full track list for Rock Band 2, 85 tracks strong.

It’s a HUGE list so I’m posting it all after the break… and more details to follow!

[Thanks Scott]

Look kids, Nintendo’s fixing wiimote accuracy!

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

It might not be an issue for some, but I’ve always had a bitch of a time with wiimote accuracy. Every now and then the thing wants to wig out and flicker to another part of the screen, or I’ll have to hold one arm with the other to try and gain enough stability to make things work. Either way, it’s been a bit of a pain in the ass. But like a good hemorrhoid cream, Nintendo has seen fit to take this pain in my ass away. Enter Wii Motion Plus.

Wii Motion Plus is a little device that plugs into the bottom of your wiimotes and promises to deliver 1:1 accuracy. That mean every little tick and fidget you make with that five-fingered stump you like to call a hand will be reproduced on screen. I’m somewhat annoyed by the fact that this is pretty much just a patch for the wiimote, but still — a fix is a fix. No details on release date on pricing yet, though I’m sure we’ll be getting both during tomorrow morning’s Nintendo presser. Full release after the jump;
