The trend of videogame related NASCAR sponsorships continue. Last year we showed off the Nintendo Wii and Halo 3 paintjobs, and now following suit is Activisions latest dead horse Guitar Hero game.
The paint job is for one race only, June 29th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway which is the same day as the game’s release. There’s also going to be a Guitar Hero trailer set up in the fan area for people to check out the game if they want to.

Real wood Guitar Hero guitars offer way to turn GH obsession into a problem |

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Gee I love buying all these musical instrument game controllers, I just with I could spend more money on them?” Well then you my friend are in luck. Redoctane.com is now offering a real Pevey wood Guitar Hero guitar. It’s going on sale July 1st and will be in available in five different designs. It’s no doubt a pretty cool idea and thankfully doesn’t taste of the absolute whoring out of the GH franchise. I do have two huge issues with this though.
- 1. They’re $399.99
- 2. They’re for the PS2
Seriously??? I love the hell out of Rock Band and Guitar Hero (I and II) but $400 for a guitar controller with 5 but colored buttons on it? No thanks. Not to mention it’s only for the PS2, and I’m not sure that limiting a huge expensive item to a group of people that haven’t taken the next-gen plunge yet is the right way to go.
Holy crap, this is the lamest thing ever |

I’m not even sure where to start with this video. It is beyond a shadow of a doubt the lamest video game related video I’ve ever seen, and that’s assuming it was done ironically. If they were serious when they made it, well then it just might be a sign of the coming apocalypse.
Anyone excited about this game should be free of that feeling once watching the following “promo.”
First shot of the Guitar Hero 4 drum kit |

Well well well, what have we here? Here’s the first shot of the Guitar Hero 4 drum kit, otherwise known as “Hey we can be like Rock Band too!” While each consumer here is certainly free to make his or her own choices about whether or not this is something to be excited about, but for me this is just another attempt by Neversoft to glob on to something better than what they’re able to handle themselves.
There’s been a lot of talk about whether or not this will be cross compatible with Rock Band, but since there’s 5 “pads” here I’m going to guess no. Besides, GH and Rock Band haven’t exactly been getting along up until now. I doubt I’ll ever buy a Guitar Hero game again.
This just in: next year’s Tony Hawk will control exactly like Skate.

Shhh, I wanna tell you a secret |

Post Secret is a strange visit, even when dealing with the internet. People write deep, dark secrets about themselves on a postcard and mail it in…. and then it gets posted online for everyone to read. It’s all anonymous, so I suppose it’s a way to get something off your chest.
Some are crazy and some are gut-wrenching (Like the one about the woman who hopes her dad shows up at her wedding to prove he didn’t die 17 years ago). The site has a relatively big following, and that makes some of the secrets suspect (to me anyways, maybe I’m just too jaded). But I know the following postcard is totally true, cause it also happened to one of our own.

Guitar Hero: On Tour track list released (oh and it’s terrible) |

LOL @ Activision. Seriously, in just a matter of months they managed to completely whore out and ruin the Guitar Hero brand. It all started with taking GH3 to Neversoft, who never met a Tony Hawk game they couldn’t pump out in a matter of months. It subsequently sucked, even though it sold by the boatload. Then we get the announcement that there’s an entire game wrapped about Aerosmith…. wow, awesome. Then this in-browser widget that’s so broken you have to wonder what they’re thought process was in making it. And finally, and possibly the most ridiculous, is the DS version of Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero: On Tour… complete with a fucking ridiculous looking accessory.
Well… they released a track list to the abomination that is Guitar Hero: On Tour…. and it’s downright laughable. I remember reading a few months ago in Game Informer how the guys at Neversoft played a prank on their CEO by telling him that Activision was requiring them to include an Avril Lavigne song in GH3, and how he flipped out cause it wasn’t “Rock N Roll.” Umm, you’ve got Maroon 5, Daughtry and Smash Mouth in there. Guess it’s easier to overlook when you’re cashing checks.
So this is apparently the full track list as well. Seem short? It should, the game was originally supposed to have 25 tracks.
- Do What You Want - OK Go
- All The Small Things - Blink 182
- Spiderwebs - No Doubt
- Are You Gona Be My Girl - Jet
- We’re Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister
- All Star - Smash Mouth
- Breed - Nirvana
- Jessie’s Girl - Rick Springfield
- Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar
- This Love - Maroon 5
- Heaven - Los Lonely Boys
- Helicopter - Bloc Party
- China Grove - The Doobie Brothers
- Rock and Roll All Nite - KISS (cover by Line 6)
- What I Want - Daughtry
