Oh Look! A New Halo Game!

by the hammer of Kevin Alexander!

As announced in the middle of last friggin’ night (it was in Japan) here’s the announcement trailer for what we now know as Halo 3 Recon:

I have to be totally honest, this got me kind of excited. Not because I’m a Halo lore nerd but because I love playing the Halo campaigns.

On the other hand is this the first sign of a possible “Guitar-Heroing” of the Halo franchise? Supposedly there’s about 5 or 6 other Halo games in the works so we’ll have to sit tight and see.

Halo weapons made out of cardboard define “extreme nerdery”

Ok look here’s the deal. This video potentially has the new “Star Wars Kid” in it. But I think he manages to move past the utter nerdiness of what he’s doing because it really seems like he’s got a talent. If this kid is this good at modeling crap out of cardboard just wait till he gets his hands on Maya or some AutoCad program. It’s hard not to laugh when he starts tea-bagging while wearing a Master-Chief uniform made out of tape while holding a cardboard battle rifle…. or hell who am I kidding it’s impossible not to laugh.

But something tells me this geek is going to do some cool shit in a few years and he’ll get the last laugh. Until then, however…

Halo statues look more cinematic than the action figures

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

In the action figure/toy word, less poseable means more detailed. It’s why I usually prefer a cool kick-ass statue instead of an “action figure.” It’s true that you can pose the figures however you want, but usually there’s only one or two ways to do it anyway, and then you have the issue of making sure they can stand up. With a statue you get a more dymanic pose, since the designers don’t have to worry about the joints of the figure getting in the way.

So as far as I’m concerned, these Halo statues are a significant upgrade from the Halo toys we’ve seen in the past few months…. even though I thought those toys were damn cool (got a few myself!). Now these aren’t the huge cold cast statues that usually run in the 80-100 dollar range, these are smaller 9-inchers that’ll only set you back about $25.

Not sure if this is the start of a series of statues (They’re calling it the “Legendary Collection”, but so far we’re seeing Master Chief fighting the flood, the Arbiter with the Energy Sword, and the Brute Chieftan.

Halo 3 Red Hayabusa Spartan Soldier Action Figure

Either this was just announced or it somehow slipped past my radar.

We’ve seen McFarlane figures for just about every armor variant under the sun, except for this super secret unlockable one.

I was working on grabbing all the damn skulls in the game to gain access to this thing and just got sidetracked and forgot. I think I have like half of them.

Seems it’d be a helluva lot easier to just buy the toy and call it a day…
