Watch me pull a new Pinball FX table out of my hat

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Pinball FX was one of my favorite XBLA games from last year. Nice and simple, but with some really creative tables and damn good physics. It all really wrapped together nicely and provided a damn good value.

There’s been a few additions over the ensuing months as well in the form of downloadable content. So far there’s been a Pirate-themed table and a Haunted Mansion. Well now they’re branching into licensed tables… calling up the classic duo or Rocky and Bullwinkle!

Luckily this is based on the cartoon, and not the shit-tastic movie from a few years back…

So far all of these extra tables have cost $2.50, though the pirate one is now free… so my guess is that eventually this one will be on the house…

This Week in DLC

Sorry we missed last week folks. Let’s blame it on a hangover or new found religion or my dog eating it or something. Either way, we’re all set for more DLC goodness this week.

XBox Live adds two to it’s Arcade Hits program

No new games on Live Arcade this week, but in its place we’re getting a price break on a couple of quality titles. Both Doom and Assault Heroes will be joining the Arcade Hits program by slashing their prices down to 400 points each.

Doom requires no explanation unless you’ve been trapped under a Q-Bert machine since the great video game crash of ‘83. Assault Heroes on the other hand might require a brief bit of a primer. Luckily, we have a review of it available right here. Isn’t that handy?

Save the Solar System Tomorrow

by the hammer of Hawty McBloggy!

A new shooter with a sprinkling of RPG elements will be hitting the Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow. Titled Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, your goal in this game is to free the solar system from the evil Legion of Terra. The cel-shaded art style looks quite interesting (it reminds me of Outpost Kaloki X a little bit) and may make it worth at least trying out the demo when the game releases at 1:00 a.m. PST tomorrow. The full game will run you the standard 800 Microsoft points (approximately $10). I may check this one out. I still haven’t purchased an Arcade game since Puzzle Quest. Dumb Boogie Bunnies.

This Week in DLC

Welcome to the long-awaited next installment of This Week in DLC! If you’re a regular reader of the site, you probably realize that I’m possibly the worst person to commit to a weekly column that on the face of the earth. Just pretend the weeks in between I was being held in a Lebanese internment camp.

On the bright side, other bigger sites who decided to swoop in and borrow the concept and title for this column also failed to keep you informed on a weekly basis, so I’m not alone in my embarrassment. But enough about me — on with the content!
