Metal Gear Solid character pack and level pack coming to PSN Dec 23rd

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

I’ve been having a hard time getting excited about paying for any of the LBP Sackboy costumes on the PSN…. their use just seems so limited and there’s so many great in-game and free choices. But this MGS pack is really calling to me, and I’m not even a huge MGS fan. For 6 bucks you’ll get Snake, Meryl, Screaming Mantis (awesome) and Raiden.

But it’s the level pack that’s got me most excited here. Also 6 bucks, but it includes all kinds of crap… like 10 decorations, 72 stickers, 12 materials, 18 objects, a Gurlukovich soldier costume, and more.

So yea, I think I’ll be dropping the coin on the level pack at least, and I might even buy the costumes as a little early gift to myself

The Metal Gear mystery solved. Your next Metal Gear game is…

Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone!  Some of you may scoff, but as a man that’s far too into gaming on my iPod Touch this is huge news in my camp.  Just take a look at those screens — if you can name even one title out there that looks better on the platform, I’ll FedEx you a cookie.

The teaser for the next Metal Gear only popped up a few weeks back, leaving me both surprised and delighted that we’ve gotten confirmation so soon.  And yes — this is definitely what was being teased.  If you visit the Japanese-language Touch Konami site, you’ll see that the green power image is the official logo for the game.  So what do we know so far?

  • will take place in the MGS4 universe.
  • “specifically designed to make full use of the iPhone’s unique touch screen capabilities.”  Hopefully this means no accelerometer bullshit.
  • will launch with 8 mission with more available at a later date.
  • available on the AppStore “Early 2009″

Also announced by Touch Konami for the iPhone; Silent Hill: The Escape, DDR S Lite and Frogger.  Hit the jump for screens of each, as well as the full press release from Konami Europe;

Wallpaper Week Day 2: Old Snake is Old

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Wallpaper week continues with our second wallpaper of the week. See what I did there?

Today’s features a cool artistic take on Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4. My “meh-ness” about this game has been well documented on the site here but that doesn’t stop me from being able to appreciate this sweet looking desktop.

Former Kojima team member lets the word “MGS5″ slip out.

Really Kojima? Really? Everytime you do a Metal Gear Solid title, it’s going to be the last one. Somehow with 4, I actually believed it. Now comes this;

It’ll be hard not being involved in MGS5, but I’ve got the utmost confidence that Hideo Kojima, Ken Imaizumi, and our amazing team will put together another blockbuster game. I’ll be cheering from the sidelines.

That’s a quote from a Kotaku interview with Ryan Payton, MGS4’s Assistant Producer who has just left Kojima Productions. Sigh. When will it end, Hideo? When will it end?

I’d probably consider this about as official as unoffical confirmation can get. So what do you think it will be — a prequel? Maybe a new person taking up the Solid mantle? Something practically Snake-less a la MGS2?

Whatever it is I’m sure I’ll be sucker enough to buy it.
