The Metal Gear mystery solved. Your next Metal Gear game is…

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone!  Some of you may scoff, but as a man that’s far too into gaming on my iPod Touch this is huge news in my camp.  Just take a look at those screens — if you can name even one title out there that looks better on the platform, I’ll FedEx you a cookie.

The teaser for the next Metal Gear only popped up a few weeks back, leaving me both surprised and delighted that we’ve gotten confirmation so soon.  And yes — this is definitely what was being teased.  If you visit the Japanese-language Touch Konami site, you’ll see that the green power image is the official logo for the game.  So what do we know so far?

  • will take place in the MGS4 universe.
  • “specifically designed to make full use of the iPhone’s unique touch screen capabilities.”  Hopefully this means no accelerometer bullshit.
  • will launch with 8 mission with more available at a later date.
  • available on the AppStore “Early 2009″

Also announced by Touch Konami for the iPhone; Silent Hill: The Escape, DDR S Lite and Frogger.  Hit the jump for screens of each, as well as the full press release from Konami Europe;

Konami Stirs the Pot

by the hammer of Ryan Hewson!

This image is very interesting, because what you see in it depends on where you are coming from as a gamer. Or so it seems. This was put out by Kojima Productions today as a little teaser.

I see: the 360’s green colour, a PC’s (well, everything really) power symbol, and little Wii-style “i”s.

“A next Metal Gear game”… is… multiplatform?

We know there are trademarks already for “Metal Gear Existence”. But this might be something else. The url has “MGST” in the title… Metal Gear Solid Tactics? Trilogy? Tofu?

Any guesses?

[edit - just remembered the "!"s in Metal Gear Ac!d... hrm]

[edit 2 - Metal Gear for iPhone/DSi?]

MGS4 Video: Otacon pissing all over the 360

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

Not that anything out there still needs to squash those “MGS4 coming to Xbox 360″ rumors, but I think Kojima just did a real nice job of cementing that one in stone. This one definitely gave me a good chuckle.

Metal Gear: Through the Years

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Understanding the Metal Gear plotline is no easy task. I’m pretty sure it takes a masters degree just to get the basics at this point. So when this little video landed in my inbox, I was actually a little relieved. I certainly prefer having someone doing the heavy lifting for me!

Thanks to Ken over at Gamers Weekly for the video!
