What’cha Been Playing? Livin’ On A Prayer Edition

by the hammer of Kevin Alexander!

See those douche bags in the picture above? I can’t stand them.

Really, they’re everything that’s wrong with being from New Jersey.

That being said I listened to Slippery When Wet A LOT when I was still too young to know better. Every once in a while if I’m in a bar and something like “Raise Your Hands” gets played on the jukebox I will still sing along (of course I’m at least 3-4 beers deep into the night at this point). Then again I try not to frequent places that even have Bon Jovi on their jukebox but that’s a different topic.

Rock Band 2 came out last Sunday. It has this strange power over you where it makes you really enjoy songs that you might otherwise not care about. Last night I got “Livin’ On A Prayer” in my world tour while playing the drums. It was as much fun as I’ve ever had playing that game and because I have the song permanently indented in my brain I was able to do fills and what not that sounded kick ass and you couldn’t cut the grin off of my face.

That’s how good Rock Band 2 is.

So, What’cha Been Playing?

Adventure Gaming Expo coming to Atlantic City, NJ this August!

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Well sweet, that’s only about 45 minutes from me!

I’ve professed my love for the adventure games of old (Point and Click FTW!), so it would seem like kismet that such an expo would be taking place so close to home. The newly minted Adventure Gaming Expo will be making it’s first appearance in the casino lined city by the sea this August 29-31.

They’re building a decent list of guests so far, with quite a few celebrities in the Adventure Game world. People like:

  • Scott Adams - The Legend Who Started the Adventure Game Industry
  • Al Lowe - The Masterful Creator of Leisure Suit Larry
  • Lori & Corey Cole - The Team Behind The Unforgettable Quest for Glory & Shannara
  • Chris Jones - The Creator of the Bestselling Tex Murphy Series
  • Scott Murphy - The Co-Creator of Sierra’s Long Running Space Quest series
  • Tony Van - The Last Man Standing @ Infocom AND the producer of CSI & Myst V!

There’s also going to be a charity auction and a “Live” action/adventure game. So I suppose it’ll be something akin to LARPing (I’ll pass on that).

Seems like it could be cool, but I’ll admit it’s a tad expensive. $99 for a weekend pass.
