Peggle Extreme now FREE on Steam

We’re Peggle fanatics here at theBBPS.  The first title made our top ten lists last year.  The second took up countless hours of our lives this past summer.  Now, courtesy of Valve, the coveted Peggle Extreme is available free of charge on Steam.

Originally a Steam pre-order bonus for The Orange Box, Peggle Extreme blends the cuteness of Peggle with the uber-violence of Valve (hence Team Fortress 2’s Pyro toasting up Jimmy Lightning pictured above).

If you don’t know the joy that is Peggle, now’s the time to find out.

Peggle Nights looks an awful lot like Peggle

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

Not that that’s a bad thing. As anyone who was reading our site late last year will attest, Peggle ran through this place like crack. Like — good crack. Peggle was the single most important thing to happen to the casual games industry since Bejeweled, so it was hard to not stand up and take notice.

PopCap has been pretty tight-lipped about Peggle Nights, but from what we can tell from these screenshots it looks more like an expansion pack then a full-on sequel. That’s fine by us. More Peggle equals more gooder.

No guaranteed date for this one yet, but PopCap representive Garth Chouteau assures me that the release “is currently slated to happen in the 9/18 range, give or take a couple of days.”
