You know what gaming needs? More Phil Collins.

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

Due to a number of circumstances — lackluster interest in the PSP at the time, the overwhelming frequency with which GTA games were coming out, the inevitibility of a cheaper PS2 version coming down the road thanks to the same happening with Liberty City Stories — the October 2006 release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories didn’t get nearly the attention it deserved from the gaming public at large. And it’s a shame too, because you missed out on one hell of a guest star: Phil. Motherfucking. Collins.

Wait — the guy from the Tarzan song? Yeah, that one. There was an interview with him at the time in which he said he wanted to do this to try and wash off some of his nice guy/soft rock image. Good for him, man. Well earned. His earlier work with Genesis make up some of the highlights of my collection, and even a lot of his solo stuff was beyond fantastic. Go on iTunes and buy the track The Roof is Leaking. Do it now. I’ll wait.

But back to what matters — Phil in GTA. You’re tasked with protecting the drum-king-god in three missions. But you know what’s better? Taking in a concert. So here it is, without further adieu, Phil Collins play In The Air Tonight, Live in Vice City.

GTA IV…. see you in mid-’08

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

To those looking forward to it, a bombshell. To those of us with a huge holiday wish list already this gived some much needed breathing room. Or you just don’t care about the game at all.

But any way you slice it, it’s big news. Grand Theft Auto IV has been pushed back from this fall until at least April 2008. It’s a complete delay, 360 and PS3. No solid reason giving… just developmental delays.

Rockstar is NOT having a easy time catching a break these days.

Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis is heading to the Wii

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Finally, a game Rockstar can release without raising the ire of crazy politicians and crazier lawyers! I mean who doesn’t like Table Tennis? That is of course until some kid puts his Wii-mote through the TV when he gets a little over eager with his back hand and some idiot says he was just “acting out.”

All that aside this seems like the perfect for the Wii, no? Wii tennis was a good intro to this game play style but something like Table Tennis could really kick ass if it takes proper advantage of the Wii and it’s motion sensing tendencies.

No pics, release dates, anything specific really but this is one I’m sure we’re gonna keep an eye on. Go get ‘em Rockstar!

E3 2007: GTV IV Multi-Player Deets

by the hammer of Xav de Matos!

Earlier today details emerged for one multi-player mode that will be featured in the October 2007 title, Grand Theft Auto IV.  The mode revealed in the latest issue of Games TM has two players facing off against eachother in the vast open world of Liberty City, once they can track the other down.  The mode sounds like Crackdown’s co-op option, but with each player gunning for the other.

Also, Games TM revealed new single-player details for the game including the importance of the internet as a tool for the main character to gain missions the same way the cellphone has been quoted as being an essential device.

More details as they emerge.

1st shots of the Grand Theft Auto IV special edition

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

“Hi my name’s Dan and I have a pre-ordering problem”

I’ll admit it, I’m a HUGE sucker for the special edition. Hell I get sucked in by most pre-order freebies. It’s embarassing but sadly very true. I collect so much video game memorabilia that I’m starting to think I have a problem! If the AMA is looking to classify some having to do with video games an addiction maybe they should look at that… I realize it’s usually a huge waste of money but I just can’t help myself!

This beauty of a set comes with the following:

  • Soundtrack
  • Art Book
  • Rockstar Duffel Bag
  • Locking Metal Deposit Box
  • Key and keychain for said deposit box

The whole thing’ll will set you back $90 and is available for either the 360 or the PS3. Between this and the good job they’re doing with the Bioshock and Assassians’s Creed SE’s it looks like I won’t be overcoming my problem any time soon.
