Is Force Unleashed for the PS3 a bug-ridden mess?

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

No word of this online yet, so I’m wondering if there’s just a bad box of Jedi floating around in my neck of the woods.  I’ve made no secret of my work in a retail/rental games outlet (keen listeners to the bitcast should know the franchise I pimp for).  Over the past few days we’ve had three returns of Force Unleashed PS3.  Three.  To put that into perspective, it’s almost October and these are the first game returns that we’ve had due to brand new defective product all year.  That sounds like a lot more than coincidence to me.

All three returns had the same complaints — the game would freeze, be buggy when it worked, or wouldn’t load all together.  Not knowning their set ups, I can’t help but wonder if maybe the game isn’t running right on older firmware or if there was a patch at launch to fix these issues.  If these customers keep their consoles offline, maybe that’s what’s going on.

On a side note I’m playing the 360 version as we speak.  My only problem?  I need a towel the size of Texas to clean up after my nerdgasm.

Anyone else out there having issues?

Guitar Hero World Tour Track List? Maybe.

by the hammer of Kevin Alexander!

If the following rumored list is true, they’ve nailed down Pink Floyd.

Oh, and Chuck Berry.

That puts me in a bad predicament because I have to admit, the latter two thirds of the list make it REALLY attractive. If only I felt like I could trust that it would be fun to play. We haven’t said a lot about Guitar Hero: World Tour but I’ll be the first to admit that it’s sounding pretty decent.

Hit the jump for the full list. Continue Reading »

“Twisted Metal is coming on PSThree”

by the hammer of Ryan Hewson!

clownsplosion
On the last Playstation Nation podcast, David Jaffe mentioned that he had tucked a hint away in the dubiously-titled Twisted Metal: Head On Extra Twisted release for PS2. Head On is the new “semi-anniversay/special edition” release of Twisted Metal as remixed by Jaffe’s new dev house Eat Sleep Play.

The code was embedded in one of the videos contained on the disc, unlockable by beating the game on hard. All the nerdy details are on NeoGAF:

“ok, so the super gumshoes at Gamefaqs have cracked the code from the Dark Past video on the disc.

The code is displayed with random numbers throughout the video. If you put the numbers together, and match them to their alphabetic cousins, you get -

Twisted Metal is coming on PSTHREE”

It’s a nice little teaser. And it also gives me the perfect excuse to use this awesome clownsplosion picture.

Rumor: Hudson making New Duck Hunt for the Wii?

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

File this one under rumor with a capital R. Someone has posted up a video of themselves playing New Duck Hunt, claiming they found it their dad’s desk, further claiming that their dad works for Hudson. In all likelihood it’s bogus, but wouldn’t it be awesome if this were the real deal?

Is Activision already focus testing Guitar Hero IV? Do we care?

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

guitarherologo.jpg
Maybe.. and No. I’m officially done with Guitar Hero. After the little pissing contest of blocking the Harmonix patch on the PS3, Activision promising to “exploit” (their words) the franchise and the general sucktitude that is GH3 I’ve had enough. I love me some rhythm games, and Rock Band owns a piece of my soul. But the Guitar Hero series can (until further notice) go fuck off.

So seeing how Activsion has treated their new golden property, it came as little surprise to us that they were already prepping a new Guitar Hero IV to possibly go out the doors. Of course this is all still rumor, but with Activision taking the mantle from EA as the “evil” company dujour, would you be surprised if this turns out to be true?

Thought not.

Guitar Hero III Song List? Possibly…

by the hammer of Kevin Alexander!

rockingout.jpgThis started making the rounds on the net over the weekend, so we might as well reiterate it here being that we cover anything with the words “guitar”, “rock” and “warcraft” in the title of the game. Supposedly it started in the Score Hero forums, but the post was quickly pulled, of course.

I think the most interesting thing to me is the addition of “Co-op Encores”…hmmmm. Based on what’s already been officially announced it looks like a pretty sweet set list, if you ask me. Check out the first couple of tiers and then hit the jump for the rest.

Tier 1:
Foghat- Slow Ride
Poison- Talk Dirty to Me
Pat Benatar- Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Social Distortion- Story of My Life

Encore: Kiss- Rock and Roll All Nite
Co-op Encore: Beastie Boys- Sabotage

Tier 2:
Mountain- Mississippi Queen
Alice Cooper- School’s Out
Cream- Sunshine of Your Life
Heart- Barracuda

Boss: Tom Morello- Guitar Battle
Encore: Rage Against the Machine- Bull’s on Parade
Co-op Encore: The Strokes- Reptilia

“Guitar Hero IV” Going All Aerosmith All The Time?

by the hammer of Kevin Alexander!

aerosmith.jpg

Fresh from the news pages of Rolling Stone, thrown in at the end of a quip about Aerosmith working on a new album (What? No time to release another Greatest Hits album?) was this little interesting tidbit:

Aerosmith are also collaborating with the makers of Guitar Hero IV, as the next entry in the video game series will be dedicated to the Boston band’s music.

Well, as you and I know there has been NO mention of Guitar Hero IV. I’m thinking this might be some sort of “Rocks The 80s” style expansion pack or stand alone game. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but know this: you heard it here second!
