Some great PSN games on sale for $4.99 until 12/4

Well if you were waiting on any of the below titles, you’ve got one less excuse… the price. For the next little bit these games are only going to set you back 5 bucks….. so cmon, make an impulse purchase (or two). If it were up to me you’d all be buying the first two games listed…

The Last Guy, PixelJunk Eden, Echochrome, Novastrike, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando are all getting blasted with the “temporary price reductor-ray” (patent pending)

DOES ANYONE SPEAK JAPANESE?!?! (I’m concerned Hindustan Electronics may be a wing of Al-Qaeda)

Ok — maybe I jumped the gun a little. But when I see foreign fonts and 9/11 circled in red, it gets me a little nervous.

Above is a screencap from the official Japanese The Last Guy site, and they’re clearly advertising something that should be happening on September 11th. Anybody out there want to break out their kanji translation guides and let us know what it is?

In pipe dream world it’ll be a flash program that let’s us design our own maps. In real world? Probably some magic peanuts.

I should really listen to Dan and Ryan more

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

Mssrs Dan and Ryan have been crawling up my butt for weeks about this promotional video for The Last Guy, and I just couldn’t muster up the required attention span to listen to them snag it off the PlayStation Store. I finally checked it out last night. This could be the greatest thing since Webster.

It introduces us to the team at the Hindustan Electronics Company who’ve set up their game studio in the Himalayas to benefit from it’s excellent curry. There’s something very Napoleon Dynamite-ish about the whole thing, but in a good way.

It’s 6 minutes full of t-shirt worthy dialogue. Everyone seems to love the line about being the number one mathematician in the Himalayas, but for my money the best quotes are when the programmer is talking about the PlayStation 3. “Thanks to my advanced programming skills, I have succeeded in using the PlayStation 3 to create these moving pictures.”

Review: The Last Guy (PSN/PS3)

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

It should be said straight away that although The Last Guy is an awesome title for the game, it’s pretty inaccurate. There are in reality tons of people left alive, though it is left to you alone to gather them up and get them to safety. But then a ship flies in and it’s piloted by someone so you can’t even say that you’re The Last Guy to save humanity! But I digress…. we’re here to talk about how the game plays after all.

The good news is while the name might not be accurate the following statement is… The Last Guy is awesome. Continue Reading »

Sony wasn’t kidding about their love for Google: The Last Guy unveiled

by the hammer of Jim Squires!

Sony’s been teasing their upcoming PSN game The Last Guy for awhile now, but they hadn’t really given away what the game would be about. At the same time they’ve been touting their love affair with Google. The addition of PS3 Google Search, the direct uploading feed to YouTube, the use of the Google Media Server — all awesome results of the Sony/Google love-in.

The Last Guy seems to be the first playtime experience to combine the quality of Sony gameplay with the sheer ingenuity of Google. The game has you guiding survivors of a zombie holocaust through the streets via Google Maps.

Even better, it’s only $5. The Last Guy will be hitting the Japanese PlayStation Store by the end of July and hopefully the US soon after. At 5 bucks I think I may have to cave and get a yen card so I don’t have to wait.
