First4Figures presents Ninja Gaiden II’s Ryu statue

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

It’s certainly sweet, sadly attached to a not-so-sweet price tag. This little bad boy will set you back $350 when it’s released early next year. It’s rather large though measuring 18 inches tall, 31 if you include the crazy scythe weapon he’s carrying.

The base is covered in artificial grass and features Ryu walking through a graveyard of swords from fallen warriors.
He comes equipped with his signature Dragon Sword, Eclipse Scythe, and a Falcon’s Talon. At 1/4 scale, Ryu stands at 18 inches tall and when you include his Eclipse Scythe, he stands at 31 inches tall (that’s over 2½ feet)!

First4Figures have made a habit of releasing high-quality high-price video game statues, so the quality of the statue is definitely high. It’s just the price that’ll stop 99.9% of us from buying one. But hey, if you’re interested in it… here’s the link!

Namco plush set

Feel like taking your home to the next level of nerdiness? Yes? Well have I got the plush set for you!

Poking around the Club Namco site I stumbled upon this set here which gives you a pretty good jumping off point for a video game related stuffed animal collection. It’s not cheap but you get quite a few characters.

  • PAC-MAN
  • Blinky, the Red Ghost
  • Pinky, the Pink Ghost
  • Inky, the Blue Ghost
  • Pokey, the Orange Ghost
  • Pooka from Dig Dug

Sadly no Dig-Dug himself though…

Vinyl Toy Show Featuring Video Game Themed Customs

by the hammer of Santos Gonzalez!

During this year’s Comic Con NYC weekend, I got a chance to check out Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Coin Up custom vinyl show over at the Concrete Jungle. Just in case you didn’t know: a “Soopa“ is a vinyl toy that has a shape reminiscent of an old school Coleco Tabletop Arcade from the 80’s. As you would guess, there were quite a few video game based custom designs. It ranged from such classics as Super Mario Brothers to Centipede. My favorite piece from the show was the broken Arcade cabinet; the detail on it was amazing and it even lit up. Great customs all around! You can see more from the show over at Saki’s Flickr page, as well as her blog at Sakiwrotewhat.com. You can also see some more custom after the jump.

Toyfare: Gears of War wave 2 action figures!

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Fresh from the pages of Toyfare magazine, scanned piping hot and served up just for you.

We saw some shots of these new figures at the New York Toy Show a few months back, but here are the final sculpts. Due to drop sometime this summer from the talented people over at NECA. Dom, Baird, a baddie and the “BOOM! HEADSHOT!” aftermath. Squishy.

Halo 3 Red Hayabusa Spartan Soldier Action Figure

Either this was just announced or it somehow slipped past my radar.

We’ve seen McFarlane figures for just about every armor variant under the sun, except for this super secret unlockable one.

I was working on grabbing all the damn skulls in the game to gain access to this thing and just got sidetracked and forgot. I think I have like half of them.

Seems it’d be a helluva lot easier to just buy the toy and call it a day…

Darth Revan Star Wars: KOTOR action figure 1st look!

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Here it is, the one Star Wars figure I’m dying to get my hands on. One half of the evil duo of Darth Revan and Darth Malak, the Sith pair that caused all that trouble at the beginning of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

I haven’t bought a Star Wars action figure in quite some time (the quality just never seems to be there), and statue companies like Gentle Giant just make vastly superior product. But for Revan, I’ll be making an exception.

World of Warcraft action figures on their way!

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

inc_dwarfwarrior.gifNext to videogames, my next biggest geek love is for the toys. My house has a pretty big display of statues and toys that shows no shame. And while most of the collection are toys from the 80’s, I always like seeing toys and statues based on video games. So while I don’t personally play World of Warcraft, I still enjoy checking out the new toys based on the game.

Thumbing through the new issue of Toyfare that came in the mail yesterday, I came across these damn cool pictures. They show an Orc Shamen, Dwark Warrior, Illidian, and Draenei Paladin. They’re done by DC Direct and they’ll be on shelves this fall!
