Tom Clancy’s EndWar Creative Director Thinks All PC Gamers Are Thieves

by the hammer of Kevin Alexander!

Shacknews just posted some comments made by Michael de Plater, creative director behind the upcoming voice-controlled RTS Tom Clancy’s EndWar concerning the delay of the PC version. Evidently it would “cannibalize” the console sales since everyone would just pirate it on the PC.

“To be honest, if PC wasn’t pirated to hell and back, there’d probably be a PC version coming out the same day as the other two,” Plater told VG247. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of EndWar arrive November 7.

“The level of piracy that you get with the PC just cannibalizes the others, because people just steal that version,” he elaborated. “Piracy’s basically killing PC.”

You know I’m getting pretty sick of developers blaming piracy for a lack of sales. Where’s the data supporting their claims? Have they ever thought that just because people pirate something doesn’t mean that they had actually intended to buy it? A lot of people in this industry need to stop thinking that all PC gamers are crooked pieces of shit. It’s fucking offensive. I’m a PC gamer, I’m not a thief.

Ubisoft isn’t the only one who practices like this, EA has very similar views on their release dates. Dead Space releases on PC a week after the PS3 and 360 versions while the now much-hyped Mirror’s Edge has a PC version that got kicked back into some nondescript “winter” release date. Keep in mind that Mirror’s Edge is made by DICE who are widely known for the PC-centric Battlefield series.

Ubisoft and EA, I’d rather not have a PC version of the game if you’re going to keep on insulting me with your practices. Stop with the accusations with release dates and your feeble attempts at incorporating DRM into your games. I have companies who show their customers some respect to support if you’re not interested. Now where’d I put my preorder slips for Wrath Of The Lich King and Left 4 Dead…

E3 08: Prince of Persia trailer

by the hammer of Dan Zuccarelli!

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time = AWESOME
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within = Cool in spite of emo-”ness”
Prince of Persia: Two Thrones = um… next please?

So it’s with great relief and excitement that Ubisoft has decided to go back and re-tool the franchise from the ground up. And this new direction in art seems to have everyone (including me) amped up. I personally love the style of the Prince now and as long as the acrobatic flipping and flying is still in-tact I’m all over this one. Anticipation…. rising.

UbiSoft just pulled out some fucking crazy cell shading ninjitsu for Prince of Persia. These are awesome.

Korn Releases New Song for Haze: Inspired By Game or Paycheck?

by the hammer of Christina "Faith" Winterburn!

Finally another wicked videogame song to add to my iPod list! Following in the footsteps of bands like Breaking Benjamin, Korn has released a new single, Haze, which was inspired by Ubisoft’s upcoming game release, Haze. The song is now available to download via online music sites like iTunes and can also be found on Korn’s new untitled album in Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

To celebrate the release of their single, Ubisoft has released this cool video featuring live footage of Korn performing the song mixed with footage from the game, Haze. Check it out!

Assassin’s Solid “The Best Gag Today”

by the hammer of Ryan Hewson!

Looks like Kojima Productions and UbiSoft collaborated for a little April 1 gag.

It’s kind of funny. The joke, that is. But more to the point, the clip contains some mindfuckingly spectacular Metal Gear Solid 4 gameplay that sort of overshadows the funny, in the end.

My thought process went something like: “Heh, that’s cool, I wonder how they got that in thOMIGOD HOLYFUCK RUN RUN RUUUUUUUUN” etc.

Handmade Rayman Raving Rabbid Plushie: Made Just For Me

by the hammer of Christina "Faith" Winterburn!

Anyone who’s known me for a long time knows that I’m a nut for the rabbits from Rayman Raving Rabbids and for the longest time I’ve been wanting my very own rabbid plushie. Well, finally I’m going to have one to call my own and best of all, I’m the first kid on the block to own one!

After putting out the call for my very own rabbit plushie on Etsy, Catsicle answered my prayers with this amazing piece of craftsmanship. She even created the cute french maid outfit and the little plunger for him at my request. It was love at first sight.

And not just for me apparently, because Catsicle is now added a rabbid plushie as a recurring item on her Etsy store, so that you too can own a cute rabbid bent on world domination for only $40 plus shipping. The store version is just a plain rabbid plushie, but I’m sure plungers can be added for extra.

Thanks to Catsicle for finally making me my rabbid. DAHHHHHH!

Let’s talk about: Assassin’s Creed (part 2)

by the hammer of BBPS!

New feature time! Instead of taking the standard “review” route for Assassin’s Creed Xav and I decided to have a little conversation about the game via email, and them post the ensuing mayhem up for the world. If you enjoy it, you might just see it pop up from time to time!

We’ve split it into two parts, one last Friday and the other today. So start with part one first then come back!

And buyer beware, there’s a minor “spoiler” in here… but it’s something that happens 5 minutes into the game so we’re not really spoiling anything… And if you’re on the fence about the game, you probably oughta know this ahead of time to help make a decision. Either way, tell us what YOU think and I hope you enjoy! Continue Reading »
