Now that some of us are getting back into the PC version of Team Fortress 2, getting together some games will probably be much easier. I still personally prefer the 360 version but I dig playing with friends more so I tend to follow the crowd (Sheep!).

Of course being able to try out kick ass mods like this one make the pill a little easier to swallow. Combine Team Fortress 2 and Soccer (Football, the good kind) and use the good ‘ol Weighted Companion Cube as the ball. Bang, instant sport.

We’ve featured more than a few Portal stories here since the launch of the game, and even a few Portal wallpapers. And while for the most part the fever has begun to subside, there’s still a little bit of it left. It flares up from time to time, and when it happens you just can’t help sputtering out dialogue or screaming “The Cake is a Lie!” to random strangers.

It’s on a dangerous ledge of becoming to over-quoted on the internets…. it’s like the Napolean Dynamite of video games. But whatever, the desktop is fun so fuck it, right? 1680X1050.

The 4chan train continues, this time with a wallpaper for Portal, but this one is rather different. The logos should be familiar to anyone that’s played the game, and the LCD effect is rather cool (to me). But it’s the “crack” and bleed that puts it over the top, and will definitely get you second looks.

Oh hell yes.

Here’s what I like about Valve. They know how to have a good time. One week they’re inviting Yahtzee over to chill and the next they come out with Aperture Science holiday cards. You can buy them in the Valve store for 15 bucks for 15 cards with 5 different greetings.

Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit, and I said, “Goodbye” and you were like “No Way!” and then I was all “we pretended we were going to murder you” and then I sent you this Holiday Greetings card? That was great.

Well here it is, borne out of Portal the game turned internet sensation. The Weighted Companion Cube has had a fast rise to stardom, and will now forever be immortalized in plush form by Valve. Not available yet but it’s being promoted on Steam.

It’ll be available in standard plush and fuzzy dice form for the car! I’m super excited about this but is anyone else bothered by the fact that regular plush is more spherical than cube?

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve beat Portal, yet I still think back about playing through the game. Of course at this point the Weighted Companion Cube and the “cake” have moved beyond the game into the new internet meme. A large part of that transition can be tracked back to the genius song “Still Alive” that play during the credits. So let’s take a listen and enjoy footage of a real live Portal cake!
